I was taken this course during my 1^st year student of bachelor degree as my curriculum course. This course teaches me a lot about outdoor activity and it was compulsory for the student to attend the camp for one week to pass this course. For the whole one week, a lot of activity that I have done for the first time. The students have been exposed to outdoor and water activities such as abseiling, jungle trekking, water confident, kayaking and more.

One of the activities that teach me to be organised was writing log book. Every single activity that we need to do, theory class will be given so that we know what that needs to do. For example, before we go for kayaking, the instructor would show what the kayaking was about and teach how to do it with the correct way. The log book then need to be updated every day since our lecturer and instructors would look for it .It teach me that it is necessary for us to gain the knowledge before we do something because only with the knowledge, we can do the task in the right way. Do not forget to ask anything that we did not sure. The log book helped so much to take note something new and important.

Next, I am also learning on how to do Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and this task was really challenging since I am going to do it like real. It need us to follow the rules and steps so that we do the task rightly and can save the lives. This activity helps me to know the right technique on CPR and it required high confidence to done it on patient. Apart from that, the routine activity for the whole week was morning exercise which starts at 7 o’clock every morning. Anyone who late would be punished and the punishment also affect others. For this activity, the punctuality is a must. It teaches me that sometimes, our action actually could cause trouble to others. So, it is need to be responsible and be on time.

Nowadays, employers look for many skills in workers. There are many reasons why worker are not get a job or they are getting fired, but there is one reason why that is happening. That reason is that many employers need people with good skills, qualities and attributes. Therefore, personal skills are critical to almost any job.

Most significant event in UMT that I have attended that developed my qualities as a graduate is when I joined volunteer club which is known as “Penyayang” club. I handle Annual Dinner for “Penyayang” club event last two year ago as a leader of place preparation. Since it is a big event for this club so I need to keen eye for details so that everything is properly organized and in place for the event. I have to think out-of-the-box for the place decorations as the theme is “Hollywood”. This requires innovation and creativity. To me, leadership does not necessarily mean accumulating as many titles as possible in school activities. I feel one leads through dedication, actions and contributions.

Be at meeting on time to discuss about the event. I also have to ensure that cost are used effectively by all the people involved in the event within the budget. Interpersonal skills also known as people skills are those related to how I communicate and interact with other members club. People with interpersonal skills are more likely to work well in teams. Also listening skill or in other word understandable what the others sharing their opinion and ideas.

Because of the activity, I have learned that teamwork is important to make sure that the event run smoothly. Their contributions make an event’s overall success. 

One of the most significant events in UMT that I have attended that developed my qualities as a graduate was when I joined in Tautan Muhabbah programme as a souvenir committee. This programme was held at Asrama Anak Yatim Perkaya, Marang, Terengganu. This programme involved students in KEMAFIZ and the orphans from the hostel itself. This programme held to give some entertainment to those children and at the same time, the activities prepared can help them develop their thinking skill such as memorizing the sentence for every checkpoint/station. This programme showed me how to interact with those who are younger than me and how to handle them. They are also separated by group which then each group will create their own logo and cheer song for their group to present it on the stage. Furthermore, my teammate and I was involved with the activities as one of the station master in the explorace games. Team work skills showed by having group discussion among group members on how to conduct the activities. As a souvenir committee, I was given the responsibility to prepare the hamper and certificate for those who involved in this programme. For preparing the souvenir, I have to use the budget provided and estimate the quantity of souvenir so that there was no over budget occurred. The position as souvenir committee have taught me about the management skills that I need to practice in my life. 

What I’ve learned was what does an Electrical Technician done in the department. Although this career route may be attractive to a lot of people, there are some electrical technician requirements that can’t be taught in a classroom or during an apprenticeship. Basically, the technicians perform a wide variety of tasks, ranging from complete installation of wiring in a new construction project to repairing and replacing older systems. Some of the most common duties includes by using tools, calibration equipment, and wires to build electrical systems then also repairing broken equipment and making suggestions on newer methods of delivering electricity that replace previous standards and so on. This positioned make myself have a new skills which was a problem-solving skills by diagnosing and repairing electrical problems, business skills by having a general knowledge of business practices such as invoicing, tracking inventory, managing employees and strategic planning will help many electrical technicians make the jump to supervisory positions and hopefully will running own companies and lastly customer service skills.

Moreover what I’ve learned which I’m not alone. Coming to this position, I felt that I had no idea where my career was going and I lacked confidence about what I could do and what I am really good at. My internship has definitely given me a better understanding of my skill set and where my career may take me, but most importantly, I’ve come to learn that I am not alone. This job taught me that almost everybody is in my same position. Very few college students know what they want to do and it is something that is simply not worth worrying about. 

Next, the position as the Laboratory Assistant have learned and trained me the laboratory procedures and how to perform general laboratory duties following multiple step processes, in accordance and documented procedures. Firstly, I’ve learned how to record of all processes involving the tools that used, and how to accesses database for the tools, electronic devices and electrical equipment information and data that need to be used during the electrical laboratory sessions for the student by helping the lecturers. This positioned make myself have a new skills on how to get the information about the tools electronic devices and electrical appliances needed by the students to undergo their laboratory sessions, and also how to manage the time for the student scheduled on their practical laboratory session and class session. Both sessions have different things used and need to be manage it properly and how to involve one-to-one teaching techniques with the students when they ask for help on their laboratory work.

Lastly I’ve learned how to behave in the office. This being my first position in an office atmosphere, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. The environment here at EED is quite relaxed, yet it taught me how to behave in the workplace. Simply working in the office and getting used to everything here has definitely prepared me for whatever my next position may be. Just observing the everyday events has taught me more about teamwork, and how people can come together to get things done. Although sometimes I have to remind myself to use my inside voice, I feel I’ve adapted to the office life relatively well.

Nowdays, good qualities are important to get the certain job. Some of the fresh graduates are jobless because they have lack of soft skills. Some of them are good in academic but poor in soft skills. The employers seek for specific skills and qualities in new workers are to ensure they have great performance in achieve the good business outcomes.

One of the events that I attended in UMT that developed my qualities as graduate when I joined Humanitarian Mission at Cambodia last year. This programme was organised by the Persatuan Mencegah Dadah Malaysia (PEMADAM) Club UMT. This programme involved 37 volunteers from students UMT and held during Eid Al-Adha last year. During this programme, my position in this event as External Relation Bureau and Assistant Treasurer.  This programme teaches me a lot of things that help me to improve my qualities. As external relation bureau, I have to communicate with other people such as to get sponsors in our charity programme. Besides, as an assistant treasurer, I had to take responsible to keep and count the donation money that collect by the volunteers. Honesty is very important and I had to be honest when I  kept and counted the donation money. I learned and improved my leadership skill during this programme. In this programme also taught me about punctuality. Punctual is important to keep your group members happy. I also learned to help other people needed. Team work skills is also important in this programme to ensure the programme run smoothly. 

In conclusion, from this event I learned a lot of things that help me to improve and develop my qualities as a graduate to be. Some of the good things from this event I can apply during my job time. In my opinion one of the qualities that help to improve in your life is punctuality. When every task can be done on time so everything will run smoothly. If we are not punctual, we can cause trouble to other people. 

One of the most significant events in UMT that I have attended that developed my qualities as a graduate is KEMAFIZ LEAGUE as a secretary. This is my first time being a secretary and it was really good to take a responsibility to do this task. My task as secretary to write an application letter to use the court and to borrow the sport stuff. As a secretary, I must attend every meeting and write all the discussion content. This programme was under KEMAFIZ club and it was held at UMT court. This programme is more to sport activities such as netball and football. All the participants is from KEMAFIZ’s members. In order to make this programme works smoothly, all of the commitee cooperate each other. During this event, the team work is really important to help each other in order to make the programme successful. When there is a meeting, all of the commitee need to speak and give their opinion. By doing this, it can be seen that all of us need to be confident to speak in front others to give our own opinion and all of them tolerate each other. From this events, I have learned that it is not an easy task to hold a position but when we have an opportunity to hold it, just grab it because it teaches us lot to be a person with a good qualities. 

                                                                                                                                                                                         

      As a Bachelor of Applied Science of  Maritime Technology student, it is a must to pass all compulsory subjects that were specified for the programme. One of course that I think develop my qualities as a graduate is Naval Architecture course. I was taken this course during last semester. Through this course, we learned on concept and theory in ship construction, hydrostatic and stability of ship and process of ship design. 

     The students were given an individual assignment project during fist class. Each of the student were given ship type and their dimension for designing purpose. As few class were held, we start to plot the sectional area curve (SAC) of  the ship, plot the body plan, water line and buttock line of the ship by using the data that we calculated by using theory formula that we learned in the class in order to get  a picture of the sip that we are going to design. During this time, I was able to improve my computer skill by using Microsoft Excel in order to complete my assignment. I was able to master in many of the function icon in this software. By now I realize the software that I learned from school actually can be use for many purpose including ship designing. Besides that, critical thinking and problem solving were also that I have learnt throughout this course. I have to think critical and creative to solve the problem when my lecturer reject my assignment progress. Last but not least, I think I was able to work in pressure condition. During the last stage of the assignment progress we need to complete the assignment in a week before we can go home. In that particular time, the pressure was very high because we need to convert the data that we plot in the Microsoft Excel onto the mah-jong paper. We need to draw the actual lines plane of the ship that have been scaled by our lecturer. At that time I have to hold back my feeling from going back home because at that time many student were on holiday for semester break. Finally in the end, I have succeeded complete the assignment and submitted on time.

Nowadays, we as a graduate have to compete each other in getting a place in a company that we want work for.  This is because, Malaysia’s economic growth today is slightly decreased compare to past 5 years. So as the consequence, there are many companies especially the small companies have to fire their workers in order to save their company’s budget because of they maybe lack in getting profit. Besides, the company also want to hire their workers from experience candidate only not from fresh graduate. So, this is the reason why graduates should developed their abilities or quantities to prove they are perfect selection to the company in order getting a job. 

One of the most significant events/ courses in UMT that I have attended that developed my qualities as a graduate was when I joined Malaysia International Marine Expo (MIMEX) during 2017 at PWTC Kuala Lumpur. This event needs me to communicate with international people from the big company in order to get some information about the maritime or the services that they offer from their company.  Hence, this is an advantage for me to improve my soft skill in communicating with them whether communicate or people-related skill. Other than that , I also can improved my managerial skill in managing time when I have to divide my time properly because there were many booths that I have to visited to gain my knowledge in maritime technology.

In addition, at that event I could practice myself to be a good listener when some of companies give their talk to us. Beside that, we also had question and answer session between the company and the visitor to give the chance to us to get the new knowledge and idea. As a result, I used this opportunity to practice myself to listen and accept the opinion from others when I get the job after the graduation.

 

I was taken this course during my first year student until my third year student in bachelor degree as my curriculum course. Actually this course teaches me a lot of knowledge about outdoor activity and my soft skills. Even though it seems like a simple things but for me it affects for my personal management especially when I am a graduates from University Malaysia Terengganu. Throughout my first year until third year degree, I was taken the camping program for 6 times.

For now, I want to share about my camping that I was joined for last 2 weeks at PULAPA JENGKA before starting this new semester. The most important skill that I get from this program is about time management. The whole activities along 5 days that we joined really care about time management. For me, it teach me to be more discipline. For example, after I got a job in a company, if I do not care about my time or I always late for come to office it will give negative effect for my job. This is important because in term of it your employer can rate your attitude.

Another activity that was improved my skill is when I got a task for conduct a semi-official event. Although the honorary people for this event just from my group but we need to make it like a real. I feel so nervous because it is my first time to be a event manager and lead my subordinate people to do their work. Our coach was rate our smooth event. The important point that I got is about confident. Even though you are the first time and have no experience to do that task, just try it. From it, you will know your confident level. When you are in job industry, if you confident with yourself, you will easy to accept whatever task that you get from your employer soon.

In conclusion, if you have an opportunities to join any activities either indoor or outdoor just take it because every event or program that are organized have their own goal which can improve your soft skills. If you do not try, you will never know about it.

            The most significant events in UMT that I have attended that developed my qualities as a graduate is Einstein Junior Physic Camp. This event was be held at 12 – 13 April 2017 around the UMT and started at the noon of 12^th April, at Bilik Kuliah of School Of Ocean Engineering building. Einstein Junior Physic Camp was the event that required the student from secondary schools around the Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu. This event has been organized by Kelab Mahasiswa Fizik (KEMAFIZ). Almost 10 schools has sent their students to join this camp.

            I as a food committee member has been told to settle about the food which is required throughout the event. I have done the duty with another friend named Hazwani. At the first we should deal the cafe or caterer that can prepared our meals. So, we decided to deal with En. Zaaba at Mutiara Cafe. This is because it is located in UMT so, it will be easier to us. We asked him to prepared for our 4 times meal with different menu. We were so thankful that our costs for food has been sponsored by HEPA UMT. But, as a committee members, Hazwani and I should alert with the progress from the behalf of En.Zaaba and HEPA. We went to have the meeting with them. We also learnt the knowledge how to serve the very important person (VIP) for an event. This is the wonderful and precious experience. From that I had learnt a lot of values that can improve my qualities as a graduate. I have to expose my managerial and communication skills. So that, my confident level will be arise. 

            From this event, I also gained the experience how to handle the event. This is because, we need a lots of preparation and will be discuss in meeting. I learnt how to work in team, hoe to tolerate with the members and to deliver the info with the simplest way. This is because, this event was joined with the students from secondary school, so we need to know how to approach and give the instructions to them. Not just be a food committee members, I also as a facilitator for the explores activity. Through this experience, I know how to communicate with whoever whether the students, team members or the behalf of UMT. 

            As a conclusion, Einstein Junior Physic Camp is the event that I have attended that developed my qualities as a graduate. The experiences that I gained there, I kept it and will be practice during the real working one day. I felt very lucky because was chosen to be a part of this big event. Impossible for me to gain a lots of experiences like this if just come and sit in lecture hall. 

Besides that, I also had been exposed to professional attitude and engineering etiquette. Here, I learn on how to discipline myself and follow all the working procedure. As we know, in this scope of working environment, communication skills are important as we need to meet and deal with users and vendors every day. So here, during this internship program, I was able to improve and enhance my soft skills by trying to communicate and fulfil all customer’s need.

Apart from that, in engineering and science field, skills and knowledge is also important in handling an equipment, not just the theoretical. We must know on how to relate the theory that we had learn with practical knowledge during working. So here, I did learn to polish my critical thinking skill especially when there is a breakdown device which need to be repaired. We must think and be creative in order to find any ways to solve the problems. Teamwork is another thing that I learn during this program.

Last but not least, I also learn on how to manage my time wisely where I will make sure that every jobs that had been given to me must be smoothly done in the given time. With all these skills that I learn during internship program, I hope that it will help me in my future working life. 

One of the most significant course in UMT that I have attended that developed my qualities as a graduate is the Economic Sustainability. This subject is not related to my course but after I had taken this subject I had gained and learned many positive things through this subject. Economic sustainability is about the ability of an economy to support a defined level of economic production indefinitely and I learned about the economic sustainability not just in Malaysia but also for other countries. So, from this course I had gained a lot of knowledge on how each country developed or planned their strategy to achieve the economic sustainability for their own country. From this course also we had to make a project in a group with the title Plan for the Malaysian Economic Towards 2050. For this project we came from different courses and it was a bit challenging because we need to finish the project in a short period of time. 

During the completion of the project, the teamwork spirit was built between us. Teamwork is really important because all the group members must participate and give their opinion on what they are doing and they had to cooperate with each other how to solve their problems. My ability to collaborate with a range of different personalities on a variety of projects will prove invaluable when it comes to your career and university can provide the skills and experience for this. Next, I had the abilities to show my commitment in that group, for sure if we work in group commitment from all members are important so that we can finish the works on time and successfully. On the other hand, I manage to improve my interpersonal skill. I had the ability to build strong relationships and work closely with people in new environment. Working with new people and being able to articulate ideas confidently are most important so that people can trust us and ensure that we are right. 

As the conclusion, I had gained many experiences and skills after I had attend this course that gave some benefits to me for the future. 

First of all, I was exposed with the variety of choices for poster and video editing. I was also able to grasp the basic video and poster editing skills from seniors. I was also taught to do attractive programmes promo videos and poster. Besides that, I was also exposed with contact for mass poster printing in various sizes. Seniors taught of ways of communication and to negotiate for reasonable prices. I was able to learn basic photographing skills as our team usually assigned to take photos during our club official events. I gained experience in supervising multimedia throughout  an event.

Futhermore, our team also assigned to do annual magazine for our club. We gain a lot experience when carry out this task. We learn to type official document regarding proposal, sponsor, to lend UMT equipments and so on. We also developed our communication skills by contacts sponsor and publication industry through various sources such as email, texting and had official meetings.

Moreover, being a member of multimedia and publicity also means I am an important member of the club. I have to always take part in high committee member discussion and I have gain a trace knowledge of managerial skills need to run a club effectively. I was also able to develop my personality such as responsibility, punctuality, tolerance, being able to accept critics and etc. 

​Firstly, during make the inspection and the work for installation of the wiring for   building and on the street, the various benefits obtained is one of that can know how to installation it properly and also to know that there is a mistake in the installation according to the specifications set of organization. With this, the errors that may occur can be corrected well and what is learned that is can be practice in the upcoming future.

Besides, i also learn that as a worker we must brave to do something to make sure the work under our care goes smoothly and there is no problem . I realized this quality during i was did inspection about lightning protection. I climb on the roof for the first time to check the copper tape for lightning protection and saw how the contractor arranged the copper tape on the roof. I wore the safety equipment before climb on the roof. Besides, I was do inspection at site of Jabatan Audit Negara with assistant engineer and follow him to measure the cable path by using distance measuring wheel together with contractor. Through the site inspection, I was able to find out how to measure the cable path easily. Lastly, when I followed Encik Rosmin the assistant engineer to the Jabatan Kimia to do some inspection, I was told to test the emergency microphone and bomba’s emergency phone whether it works well or not at control room. From that I know how to use the facilities provided when the fire occurs.

​Lastly, during industrial training, I was got some skills that I never learned before at University. At JKR, I was told by Encik Omar to do some drawing by using AutoCAD. This is my first time I used AutoCAD to do some drawing because at university I never used this application in learning. Hard for me to use this application because I don’t know how to connect the symbol in drawing. But after friend and staff at JKR teach me step by step I know a little bit about this AutoCAD. For me it’s very fussy but fun. Besides, I was learned how to fold the plan in the right ways. A1 size plan was folds to A4 size. 

​In conclusion, i can find out the qualities in myself is gained during in make anything the work. The experience in employment can be avoiding the things of unwanted from happening such as cheated, breach of trust and so on.

 

During my 3 years aback in UMT, I have joined in one of uniformed body, Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU) Navy. In this courses, I have gained knowledge about TLDM and skills that required to become an officer and develops qualities as a graduate. 

 

At the first year of joining this courses, I learned about core values that a person should have such as Honor, Loyalty, Courage and Pride. Honor values is about perform entrusted duties honestly, sincerely, responsibly and professionally for the benefit of the organization. Loyalty is loyal to colleagues and unwavering devotion to organizations, services and countries. As for Courage, it is spirit of excellence and adherence to the truth and be responsible for all actions. Pride is serving the RMN with great pride, commitment and dedication. I learned how to interact with the superior person of the higher rank in a proper manner. I also learned capable to do any tasks given without excuses. I also learned that teamwork is one of the essential aspect to improve my skills. After doing many tasks given, it increase my confident levels as I able to do anything within my capabilities

 

Besides, this course has involved in many events such as annual dinner, outdoor camp, parade competition and sport competition in order to improve skills and knowledge, so I learned how to manage the event, post official documents in proper manner. One of the events that I like most is during joining the voluntary event. In that event, we doing cleanup works at nearby school village in that flooded during monsoon season in Penarik, Setiu. We saw many school welfare that been damaged or lost to the flood. We also lend a hand to villagers in cleaning their homes. I learned that any person should be helping each other regarding any races and religion.

 

In conclusion, joining this courses giving various opportunities to improve skills as a graduate. It also can be a platform for opportunity to gain knowledge about military and increase the performance in managing through career.

To date, I have taken 22 courses in physics including computer-related, mathematics skills and entrepreneurship courses which gives me strong background in my field of study. Besides, I also have excellent command in written and spoken in English and Malay.

I underwent a three month industrial training at Department of Electrical Engineering, Politeknik Merlimau Melaka last year. During the industrial training, I was required to manage a few task and some technical problems in the laboratory and the department also. This resulted in an increase of my technical problem-solving skills and multi-tasking task that provided me a valuable and provided me with valuable practical experience. From my experience, I have done on the RFID card key storage system for the mini project for the department which are totally increase my software and marketing knowledge for the product to be done for the department.

My involvement in extra-curricular activities at the university has strengthened my interpersonal skills, which gave me insight into how i can work in a team and under a pressure with all kinds of peoples. I have developed confidence and leadership qualities through my participation in the Wavebreaker's and Handballer's UMT club. Besides, I would like to put these skills to use as Customer Service at your company.
