Despite this burden and the prejudice he faces, Lupin chooses to be gentle, compassionate, and an incredible mentor to Harry. He doesn't just teach Harry for school; he teaches him for life, most notably by instructing him in the Patronus Charm to fight the Dementors. Lupin embodies the idea that our true character is defined not by the curses we bear, but by the choices we make.
