Over time, as files are added and deleted, the locations of files saved on the Hard Drive are scattered. A disk defragmenter rearranges the bits of data into structured blocks. This can slightly speed up the rate at which files are loaded, as the arm of the hard drive doesn't need to move very far to reach all of the saved data. A solid state drive would not benefit from defragmentation done to it as it has no moving parts.

A virus checker is a computer program used to prevent and remove malware. It is used to protect the computer from harmful programs by detecting viruses before they can get access to your computer. If a virus is detected trying to get through the firewall, the software will give an alert and ask how you want to deal with the program. Virus checker is important for system software as viruses can interfere with the operating system. This could lead to the computer not being able to function which is why anti virus is necessary in a computer.
