Kimberly, Chloe, Hailey, Dayna, Deshane
Shakespeares perspective on communication try’s to strive for clarity and his use of outside sources and creating interesting narratives from the perspective of a feminist theory and with an eye on material culture. Shakespeare makes the characters very manipulative and naïve toward each other and showing jealousy and rage. The communication issue between Iago and othello is much more evident when Iago gives othello miscommunication. Othello weakness is communication is that he actually doesn’t know anyone properly and he’s and outsider making him his weakness and the communication with Iago and Cassio and othello causes jealousy.

Act

Alyssa Andrea Tommy
Shakespeare uses figure language like imagery to help the reader visualize the play by adding creativity .In act 1 of Othello, Lago describes Othello as a “old black ram” and “Barbary horse”. This makes the reader imagine the race and identity of Othello. Also though out the play women’s characteristics are formed around imagery. When Iago explains Desdemona he basically calls her and the other women nothing but whores. Telling the audience how woman were shown as during Shakespeare’s time period. Lastly, Imagery is used to describe Iago’s evilness as poison and sleeping aids. This reveals Iago’s characteristics of being the villain in the play.

Briana V., Jalissa P., Robert R., Destiny R.

In othello there are certain scenes or possibly one scene in the play that transforms the meaning of the text. In (2.3.375) of Othello by Shakespeare it’s when the dramatic irony transforms the entire play, and just leads up to what’s next. It states “ Two things are to be done: My wife must move for Cassio to her mistress ;. I’ll set her on; Myself awhile draw the Moor apart And bring him jump when he may find Cassio Soliciting his wife.” In the quote what’s being said is Iago’s plan. The way this transforms the entire play is now we know what to expect later on in the play, it would seem as if everything will be happening for a reason, when Othello coincidently runs into all these signs. Iago will build up to break him. It actually works in the end due to Othello being so insecure that Iago does get to him.
In (3.3.115-125) Iago is now transforming yet again to a nice, intelligent, even loving man towards Othello.

The perspective in Shakespeare’s Othello differs from today’s society because the role of men and women was completely different from how they are now. In the play, men are superior and women are inferior, and the women who don’t have a voice, or try to speak up for themselves, are killed by the men that “own” them. “Iago: Be wise, and get you home. Emilia: I will not... Iago: Villainous 🤬! ... [Iago kills his wife]” (Act 5 scene 2) Not only does Iago kill Emilia, but Othello also kills Desdemona, both for reasons concerning the men’s opinions and the lack of communication.
