"The Visual Arts aim is to create and instill a general awareness of art making, its specific materials and techniques and vocabulary within the multi-disciplines of art (sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, digital art, and printmaking). Students enrolled in the visual arts will learn to independently research, brainstorm, and incorporate themes from their own personalities, hobbies, interests, and personal identities that will enable them to use as ideas for subject matter. Formative activities are introduced to build the level of student knowledge and awareness from recalling art terminology and techniques to constructing, modifying, and critiquing their artwork. Some quarterly units also incorporate the Engineering Design Process (EDP) for student trouble shooting and artwork analysis and outcome. The visual art curriculum is also aligned with the learning objectives consistent with the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards III and the Elements of Art and Principles of Design."

(evidence Scholastic Art submissions)

In the ELL Math class, I often use stations to differentiate and scaffold the teacher. This also allows for 1 teacher to work with around a group of 7-8 students. I'd be happy to write up more about this if you feel it should be added.

I also give exit tickets that are broken up into levels and it's often a 2-day goal for students to all achieve level 3 (mastery).
GoMath 7th grade text includes HOT (Higher Order Thinking) questions such as requiring students to communicate mathematical ideas, draw conclusions, critique reasoning, and justify reasoning. An example of an HOT question is "Margo purchases bulk teas from a warehouse and marks up those prices by 20% for retail sale. When teas go unsold for more than two months, Margo marks down the retail price by 20%. She says that she is "breaking even," that is, she is getting the same price for the tea that she paid for it. Is she correct? Explain." (p 152). ("breaking even" is in italics in GoMath)
