I realised from our discussion that our young pupils who have nvr played online games may not even know what it means to chat with pple online. They prob think it's the computer they are chatting with.

So it would be very good to have this conversation with the girls to explain to them what chatting with strangers (real pple) online actually means.

Will educate pupils that there is a real person behind the iconic character in online games.Thus they must be mindful with the information they share on.

It is very important to consider the family culture of the pupils. All families are different. Something that is a good touch to a friend may not be a good touch for you. Pupils must be equipped with the knowledge to differentiate what’s comfortable and what’s not.

We can try to use a doll to show good touch and bad touch. Have an open dialogue without leading the discussion in any way. Let the pupils determine what’s best to speak opening about in a safe space.

It is important to gather some infornation of pupils' current undertsaning of online safety so that we can pitch our lessons according. It is also important to share examples that the pupils can relate to; we cannot assume that all of them come with the exposure/ expereinces.

Use of video will be a good way to capture the pupils' attention to teach them about online safety.

Maybe tecahers to share their backstory to better engage the pupils' intersts.

As the pupils have varied online exposure, it is good to take some time to explain some online terms, how online games are played etc before we engage in the lesson proper.

Understanding the transitional challenges the P5 pupils are going through and help them to prepare themselves for the coming WA.

Connecting with pupils through Back Story and teacher's personal experiences can help to ease pupils' fear, stress and concerns. Pupils would feel more assured that it is emotional normal for them to experience stress and anxiety. Sharing overcoming challenges strategies help pupils to build a growth mindset.

Meaningful sharing session on how to conduct the lesson. Good idea to use authentic personal experiences to better engage the students. Good to let the students write down their feelings as some may not be comfortable to share openly and to be mindful not to drop names during sharing.

I would like to share more personal experiences with my class so they can better relate to the topic.

Making linkages of lessons or strategies introduced, to allow pupils to put the learning points into practice, will allow them to see the authenticity of the lessons. eg Linking the previous lessons on I feel I think I act using the decision making process with the upcoming topic on dealing with teasing.

Setting a safe space for pupils to share more readily , like in smaller groups, or with people who share same views, will allow the discussion more frutiful and genuine.

I agree that if we start the discussion and sharing of our own personal backstories and even times when we were also put in those situations, our girls are also very candid to share theirs as well. Let’s start the ball rolling… for a more conducive environment to share and learn from one another.
