For my mindmap, I wanted to focus on the ideologies for education. The three people we have discussed so far are Howard Gardner, Diana Laufenberg, and Mike Rose. In my opinion, all of their views on the framework of education go hand in hand with one another.
I wanted to show how many of the ideologies all connect with the point that ideologies of education should constantly be changing.
For example, the blue arrows that I have added show the connections between the three. All three of them are surrounded around the idea that we need innovative learning. They all emphasize that students all learn and progress differently, therefore the "standard" educational framework we have in place now, may not work for all students. Experimental learning/ teaching was mentioned by all of them as well, and in order for that to happen they all also focus on the students. The chart shows that Gardner focuses on a disciplined mind where students are persistent in finding ways to better their education. This connects with Laufenberg's and Rose's idea of listening to the student body to find out ways to be innovative.

For my Venn Diagram, I wanted to emphasize that literacy isn’t a linear skill set but a dynamic interplay between our internal processes, personal experiences, and our willingness to learn from mistakes. For my mind map, I made a Venn diagram highlighting the beliefs and opinions of Diane Laufenberg' Learning From Mistakes, Au's Deeper Consciousness, and Mike Rose's Literary Narrative. From the Venn diagram, I was able to see that while their views differed in some ways, in a lot of ways there were similarities between Dianne Laufenberg, Au, and Mike Rose. For example, they all value self reflection and learning from mistakes. In their own ways they all express that failure is a way to learn. In our school systems, we are given tests and expected to not make any mistakes but in this way we are not learning. When we are given the chance to fail, we learn from our mistakes and that is far more important than a grade we get on a test. They all show the significance of not getting something right on the first try and how that can be more helpful in our learning, than trying to be perfect every time.

For my mind map, I decided to create a Venn Diagram that compared Au's Deeper Consciousness, Diane Laufenberg's Learning from Mistakes, and Mike Rose's Literary Narrative. From the Venn Diagram, I am able to see that while each of these perspectives are different in their own ways, they share some major key values. Each perspective emphasizes personal development with the use of education, the idea that mistakes and failure are beneficial to ones growth and development, and the idea that education can lead to social change and empowerment. While these perspectives are different in their own ways and similar in some ways, we can see specific similarities between each of them. For example, Au and Mike Rose both believe challenges can contribute to a process of deeper learning and personal development. Au and Diane Laufenberg both emphasize the importance of self reflection as well as the idea that mistakes are ways to improve. Finally, Mike Rose and Diane Laufenberg both value active learning and the idea that failure can be beneficial to help children learn and succeed. This Venn Diagram helps to see how each perspective differs, but also the many similarities and shared beliefs each of these have.

For my mind map, I created a Venn diagram demonstrating the beliefs of Diane Laufenberg's Learning from Mistakes, Au's Deeper Consciousness, and Mike Rose's Literary Narrative. From this diagram I able to see that everyone has a different opinion but they also agree with each other in a way. Au highlights how social structures shape education. Diane Laufenberg focuses on the value of learning through failure and hands on experiences, while Mike Rose reflects on the barriers students face in the education system and how everyone should be given the same opportunities. Together, they are all fighting for an education system that is for everyone. For example, Au and Diane agree about self reflection and encourage deeper thinking than just the curriculum being taught in schools. AU and Mike agree that standardized testing is flawed and does not reflect real learning. Lastly, Diane and Mike agree that learning through experience and teacher support is essential. They all show how failure is essential to succeed in life and that standardized testing is ineffective and does not determine how smart someone is. Even though Au, Mike, and Diane disagree in some areas they still share similar beliefs and overall want the same goal.

For my mind map I decided to create a venn diagram connecting the three different philosophies of Wayne Au, Diane Laufenberg, and Mike Rose. Although they have many differences regarding the education of students they also have many similarities. One aspect that they all agreed on is the idea that standardized testing should not be the main component when determining a child's ability. All three believe that there is no one size fits all when it comes to education. They believe there is more to the student than what is observed on the surface. Experience is another important ingredient in a child's educational journey. They all believe students must make mistakes in order to learn and grow deeper as a student. Diane Lufenberg and Wayne Au both place emphasis on safe learning and empowering students' voices. Mike Rose and Diane Lufenberg both say that a score on a test is not as important or valuable as a real life lesson or experience. By creating this venn diagram it allowed me to see the differences but also the similarities each of them have.

For my mind map, I made a Venn diagram that compares the differences and similarities between Diana Laufenberg’s, Wayne Au’s, and Mike Rose’s ideologies on education. The main similarity that all these figures had in their thinking is that right now education is so focused on test scores and passing assignments, that students are being overlooked and deprived of the education they deserve. Laufenberg’s TedTalk stood out the most to me because she provided real examples of how her teaching style was different than other teachers, and even was laughed at by her coworkers, but she ended up proving them wrong. She went against the normal teaching style and found her students enjoyed it and learned more from it than if she just gave them a test. Like her ideas that students should have a voice, Wayne Au also thought this way. Au stressed that the education system isn’t teaching the right material and that students should learn things that apply to their lives. This includes politics and how they can impact politics. Beyond this, Au also acknowledged that students with disadvantages, for example, students living in poverty and being discriminated against, don’t receive the same education as other students. This is also talked about by Mike Rose when he talks about how students living in poverty are overlooked and labeled as “flawed” despite their ability to learn. Rose also discusses how test scores don’t show students' true character, and there’s much more to them than just a failing grade.

For my mind map I decided to focus on the learning theories and how they connect to the individual student. All of these theorists have a commonality surrounding the idea of individuality. Focusing on the student as a single person, rather than as a group allows for a more personal connection to the students education. The bright pink lines show connections between the different theorists. For example, Lafenbergs idea of student voice connects with Au's ideas about student empowerment. Once a student finds their voice they will gain a new found feeling of empowerment. The bright purple lines are connections that can be made between different ideas of the same theorist. Rose's ideas and comments about equity amongst students overlaps with his thoughts about individuality as well.

My venn diagram illustrates the similarities and differences between Mike Rose, Diane Laufenberg, and Au. While each author focuses on different aspects of education, they all advocated ate for student-centered learning methods. Au emphisizes the need for critical conciousness, urging students to engage deeply with their education. Rose highlights the struggles of underprivelegss students, and Laufenberg explains the importance of failure as a learning tool also promoting hands on learning. Despite their different prespectives, all three authors aign in their ideas of empowering students and fostering resilience. They all challenge the education system to create meaningful learning expierences.

For my mind map, I chose to create a Venn Diagram to display Wayne Au, Diane Laufenberg, and Mike Rose's ideas. All three sources had very similar thought processes and I made the conclusion that their common idea was that there needs to be a change in today's educational system in order to benefit all students and their individual strengths and qualities. Laufenberg highlighted that students need to be introduced to failure and challenges in order for them to learn and grow, which will enhance their abilities. Rose's ideas show that all students are different and capable of different things based on their individual strengths. Wayne wants to introduce students to more deeper concepts, worldwide issues and their environments, that they can learn from and help develop a change to their lives and education. Many of these people have ideas that play into the other's ideas.

For my mind map I have decided to create a Venn Diagram comparing AU's Deeper consciousness, Diane Laufenberg's Learning from Mistakes, and Mike Rose's Literary Narrative. They have many different and similar aspects of their points of view. One of the similar aspects is that they all think that failure is okay and a way to learn. They believe that there is no way to really learn without failing. They also say that tests are not everything, what is seen on the surface is not what is always true for a student. Laufenberg and Wayne AU thought the same way about the idea of students having a voice. Wayne AU harped on the fact that the education system is not correct and does not fit every student. Mike Rose also talked about the fact that school may not be for everyone and the unimportance of test scores.

I created a mind map sorting out and connected the ideas Mike Rose, Diane Laufenberg, and Wayne Au have regarding education. While I highlighted the major ideas that stood out to me, I think all of their ideas can be interconnected, and reflecting back upon our "Dinner Party Discussion," I think these three would have a very agreeable and productive conversation (quite different from Gardner and Rose's). In my mind map I focused on laying out some of the most important points each scholar made, and then connected their inter-lapping ideas to each other.

First, the darker blue boxes break out some key points from each scholar, with the lighter blue boxes further elaborating on those ideas. The gray arrows connect the ideas of the different authors. For example, with Rose and Au, the connection that stood out most to me was their ideas about class, society and educations links, and how they similarly felt that social systems that care for marginalized groups in our society are crucial for academic progress for all students. Near the arrow that connects their ideas, I notated this connection on a "sticky note."

When considering the link between Rose and Laufenberg, I believe they would really connect on the ideas of inclusivity and equity; not just "equal" education for all, but education that works for each student as an individual. This was a key takeaway for me from this week's material.

For my mind map I decided to use a Venn diagram to show that these different perspectives have ideas in common that are ultimately looking for a reformed education system. While some ideas differed from person to person, there was an overall focus on finding the true potential of each student. Mike Rose, Diana Laufenberg, and Wayne Au all share a common interest in how testing does not show a child’s understanding of a topic, but rather their ability to memorize information. Rose and Laufenberg have similar views on how children should experience information and learn through their understanding, not through the knowledge of someone else. This goes into Au’s idea that schools should not be teaching from perspectives but more so exploring and creating one’s thoughts and opinions. They believe that failure should be achieved to grow and become more knowledgeable. Although each author concentrates on various aspects of education, I took note of this diagram and learned that they all stress the value of introspection and learning from mistakes.

For my MindMap, I created a VennDiagram that presents Diane Laufenberg, Wayne Au and Mike Rose's ideas. Each of them have similar thinking in the sense that the learning system/educational system is very complex and incorporates many different perspectives and concepts. However, there are many things that need to be altered. While they all focus on different aspects of education, they all advocate for more student based learning that goes beyond the standardized testing ideas/systems. They all push for a more inclusive and empowering approach to education and learning, as well as involving more critical thinking, personal backgrounds and experiences. As well as, they all collectively challenged the ideas of traditional schooling methods.

For my MindMap, I found it best to sketch out a thought process regarding Mike Rose, Diane Laufenberg, and Wayne Au's respective ideologies on education.

Au's Deeper Conscience outlines the need for self reflection and learning through past experiences, which I believe falls directly in line Diane Laufenberg's thoughts in 'Learning from Mistakes', and how students need to go through a set of trial and error to make progress. Mike Rose advocates for the need of a strong support system around an individual, and that education is not a 'one size fits all'. I believe this correlates very well with Laufenberg's theories of cultivating a dedicated environment so children can excel in their studies. These individuals have some discrepancies in their respective thoughts and ideas, but I feel they are more alike than not. I believe a commonality of these three individuals is that they want to hone in each individual, and they understand that simply lecturing may not be effective, and that students need to learn valuable lessons through hands-on experiences.

I chose to do a Venn diagram and focus on the main topics through out Au's deeper consciousness, Diane Laufenberg's learning from mistakes and Mike ross's literary narrative and compare them. They each had different perspectives but also connected in certain ways and shared values. Au and Mike both don't believe in standardized tests and believe that they are flawed and there needs to be changes when it comes to that in the educational system. Diane and Mike both believe that teachers have a big impact on students education and their support is needed along with experiences. For my mind map I chose to create a map demonstrating how Diana Laufenberg, Mike Rose, and Wayne Au believe about students and their education. I believe each of them bring something different to the table and it shows above. I also believe that even though their views are slightly different they are also quite similar.

In each of their ideologies they make very good points stressing the need for equity and equality in and outside education. Diversity and adaptation to students limitations is another very important key topic. Lastly, the idea that skills outside of academics are key to success is another that I feel is truly important. Although core subjects are important to learn, knowing how to preform them is what really matters.

In my Venn Diagram, I focused on each educator's individual themes and how they viewed improving education. Each educator provided examples of ways to develop core problems. When comparing the educators I realized that while the problems they focused on discussing differed, their overall ideas were similar. These educators wanted to give children the opportunity to have a well-rounded education. They did not want to make mindless machines whose only goal was to work in labor-induced jobs or at home raising children. Instead, they wanted children to develop life skills and mindsets to become the next leaders and meaning individuals in the world.
