This Poem is pretty much right on the dot with that time era. He is very stern with his tone. Which makes a big standing with the point he is trying to make. He is talking about slaves and how they should fight back even though they are outnumbered. This is very heroic for him, especially since it is the early 1900's. White men and women have not accepted them too much just yet. This poem symbolizes the want for freedom and acceptance. The Author made it a point to show the audience his pain and anger. The theme he doesn't want them to die without a fight.

There is a lot to learn from him and where he came from. I can see how he turned out to be such a great writer.
