Bananas are first cut with a special knife from the tree, in a bunch and are carefully put upright into a trailer with padding that divides all the bunches so they don't rub together. Then, at a packing shed the bananas are simply washed and packed into cardboard cartons with plastic aligners and absorbent pads at the bottom to ensure the banana's don't bruised and don't ripen. Once bananas are packed they are normally stored in about about a 55 degrees place in order to prevent the bananas to ripen too quickly. Chemicals like chlorypriros and many other are used to ripen bananas quicker.
