The statue was made by the Cochabamba sculptors and architects, the brothers César and Walter Terrazas Pardo, the direction of works and construction was carried out by the Architect Mario Moscoso Villanueva with his team of workers, in memory of the visit of Pope John Paul II to the city of Cochabamba in 1988. The work was carried out at the initiative of the factory worker leader Lucio López, began on July 12, 1987 and was completed on November 20, 1994.

This gigantic image with outstretched arms represents the protection of the Christ of Concord over the city of Cochabamba, and the hospitality of the inhabitants of this city.
In 2019, maintenance of the monument was carried out with hydro-washing, repairing cracks and fissures, in addition to the waterproofing of the structure with layers of acrylic paint on the outside.
