The Anti Nazis were, Shahana Honey Shafts as well as, Troots and Freddy Oversteegen, ages 19,16, and 14 years old. Their mother “Trien”left their father years before the war. During the war they had a jewish couple living with them, which kept them in the loop of what was going on. During that time their mother had them join in with her in the dangerous task of posting and distrubuting Anti-Nazi and communist literature around town. Word soon got out that the girls might be open to joining.  Their mother told them “No matter what the resistance told them to do, stay human.”

We did not feel it suited us. Freddie soon married and started a family to cope. Her son Remi stated, " She shot people, but she hated it, and she hated herself for doing it". I wasn't born to kill. Do you know what that does to your soul ....One loses everything. It poisons the beautiful things in life." In the end, Both sisters lived to the old age of 92. With Truus dying in June 2016, and Freddy following her in September 2018 The day before her 93rd birthday.
