The very fist comedians that I listened to was the blue collar guys like Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall, before they ever did the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Then I branched out and started listening to more vulgar and grow up comedians like Dane Cook and Christopher Titus. My absolute favorite comedian is Mike Birbiglia. I love the way he turns the stories of his life into a comedy performance. When I saw Barack Obama run for the presidency and win in 2008 something inside me was so moved. That was the first year that me and my fellow 18 year olds were able to vote and I felt like it was because of us that the country was finally moving in a different direction ... a more accepting direction. I was so proud of all of us. Barack and Michelle Obama changed my life with their strength and their grace. When they left the white house, I instantly felt a pit in my stomach because I knew that they were being replaced with someone who did not deserve to be there. I felt directly threatened when Donald Trump Took office. I felt totally defeated and unsafe in my own country. But then, the day after his inauguration, was the Women's March. I saw so many other people, who felt the same exact way that I did, taking a stand and letting the people in "power" know that we weren't just going to sit back and take all of their nonsense. Ashley Judd was there in Washington that day and delivered the most powerful speech that I have ever heard. It was written by Nina Mariah who is from right here in Tennessee. I listen to it when I get bogged down by all of the negative politics in our country to remind myself that I am not alone and that we are strong enough to get through this.

I learned how to read music in the third grade through piano lessons. Then in fifth grade, I joined our junior band, learning to play the clarinet. When I went on into high school, I joined the marching band. While there, I taught myself how to play the trumpet, marching french horn, flute, and saxophone. In addition to these instruments, I was also in our high school chorus. I have trained my voice independently since then and hope to someday sing locally in front of people. 
The band pictured below is my most favorite band of all time. They are Paramore. Their songs have gotten me through some pretty rough times in my life.
