Song: Your World is Eternally Complete
Artist: Sweet Trip

"Your World is Eternally Complete" is about facing your fears and overcoming challenges to "complete" the life you want. You have to put yourself out in the world if you want something to happen, which is expressed in the song when it says, "Empty your thought into the well of pressure". This is trying to say that you need to empty your thoughts into the world. By doing this you will be able to live the life that you want. If you do not put yourself and your ideas out into the world, nothing is going to change. I can apply this to my life by beginning to not think of other people's opinions about my ideas or me, and just think about what I want to change or happen. I think this will help me reach my goals because I will not be worried about people holding me back or telling me something is impossible. In addition to emptying your thoughts into the world, learning to grow bigger than your fears is what will help you go in the direction of your desires. Not being scared of things that may happen or things that stand in the way is the greatest strength, the song says, "Your heart, your mind, your mind a golden river" which is a good way of saying that your heart and your mind are the most powerful things. Staying true to your desires and not letting anything get in your way is what will help you grow into the person you want to be. In the end, the only way you are ever going to achieve what you want is by applying yourself and learning to adapt to the things that get in your way. This is how I want to live my life because fears and hard decisions are things that hold me back and prevent me from achieving what I want, so overcoming them will move me closer to my goals. It's a good mindset to have since if I think positively it will attract positive things to me. One of my traits which I hope is able to help me towards my goals is being able to understand the way that people think and behave and use that to assist them with anything they need. Everyone thinks differently, so if I learn everyone's behaviors and ways of thinking I will be able to help people and make their lives better which in return will make my life better. The fear I have is that I have social anxiety, so it is hard for me to talk and get to know people. A way I can overcome this is by becoming more comfortable with speaking freely through time and practice.

Person: Grimes (Claire Boucher)

A person in modern society who embodies some of Emerson's beliefs is Grimes. She is a 32-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, and visual artist. She is commonly described as being very quirky and strange. Rolling Stone writer Rachel Syme says how when Grimes talks you have to keep up because she moves from conversation to conversation. She has many interesting views and things to say, which causes her to be treated as an outcast, but she does not care since she is content with herself. (Syme). While Grimes may be seen as an outcast or an oddball, she is actually pretty admirable when it comes to her career. She started off by making music as a hobby, everything she made she made herself. As she began to grow more popular in pop-culture, she continued to work solo even after many offers from producers and other artists. People would wonder why she was not taking advantage of any of these opportunities, and she explains, "I don't want to be just like the face of this thing that I built, I want to be the person that built it" (The FADER, "Grimes-Art Angel (Documentary"). This is a good representation of Emerson's beliefs in modern society because she's saying how she wants her life to be her own, and only she is capable of creating a world that she wants to live in. She is so independent because she does not want others interfering and trying to change her according to the standard of society. Her career is a representation of her and what she believes, and she's putting it out in the world to show everyone that she has control of her desires and nobody is going to stand in the way of them. She is admirable because she's able to do this without fear of what others may think, she can be herself and do things that she loves so that she is not wasting her time living as someone else. Everyone should strive to be themselves and not worry about the opinions of others, because they are just going to hold you back from your dreams. Life is too short to worry about the negative small things, if you focus on making yourself happy you will live a fulfilling life.

A piece of advice that I agree with from "Walden" is "However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not as bad as you are” which is saying how no matter what life throws at you, it is your life and you should live it. Your life is what you make of it, and if you choose to see all the bad in it then you're not going to be able to experience all the good. I can apply this to my life by remembering to think optimistically and by remembering that I can grow greater than the problems that I face.

Great song choice; it was fun to listen to. You did a great job explaining your goals and what you hope to contribute. Just make sure you cite the lyrics for the song. Great work explaining how Grimes is independent embodies self-reliance. I love the color choice and images on the flyer. You could have cut back on the wording a little for visual appeal, but overall great work. The songs you chose for the final post were explained well and had clear connections to transcendentalism.
