I was actually going to JSU, but I decided to try out for the UAB Golden Girls in May of my senior year... made it and changed my college decision quickly! It was the best decision for me!

Later went to University of West Alabama to pursue School Counseling.

UAB: BS- Secondary Ed.- Social Sciences

UWA: MSCE in Counseling/ Psychology

I wanted to MOVE and travel to lots of places. A college degree has opened doors for me to travel to many places around the world, and I have studied and worked abroad. A college degree means freedom to choose to me.

I went to Auburn, UAB, Samford, and West Alabama for my degrees.

I applied to college thanks to the encouragement of my Nana K. She helped me to understand that I had so much potential and that attending college would expose me to a world of college and career opportunities, allowing me to become the successful person I am today. Because I applied, I've been able to make a difference in the lives of many students. My encouragement to you is APPLY TO COLLEGE. You never know what lies on the other side of you making the decision to apply. :)

I applied to college to find my passion. I have always loved animals and started at Troy State University in Animal Science but quickly learned my passion for writing while attending a book club at the student center. I transferred to the University of South Alabama and graduated with a dual BA (Bachelor of Arts) in Print Journalism (Communication) and English.

I applied to college as a non-traditional student while carrying a lot of adult responsibilities at a very young age. No one in my family had ever attended college, so I didn’t have a roadmap to follow—but I found mentors who believed in me and leaned on their guidance along the way.

Because I took that first step and applied, I’ve had the opportunity to mentor hundreds of students who started out just like me.

So, apply! You never know what opportunities are waiting for you on the other side of that application. Don’t let fear of failure keep you from trying. You can’t fail when you’re willing to try, learn, grow, and keep going.
