Moved to long term memory if needed and discarded if not. </p></li><li><p><strong>Parallel Processing Theory:</strong> Multiple pieces of information can be processed simultaneously.</p></li><li><p><strong>Hierarchical Processing Theory: </strong>Information is stored and processed in order of importance. Information processing is a complex process with variations.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

Perceiving the stimuli.</p></li><li><p><strong>Storage: </strong>Information is held in short term memory for processing and either discarded or moved to long term memory.</p></li><li><p><strong>Retrieval: </strong>Accessing stored information (either short or long term memory) to use for current task.</p></li><li><p><strong>Transformation: </strong>Making stored information useful. Problem solving or reasoning.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

With this being a fairly recent theory, it is giving light to the idea of "you cannot judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree."</p>]]></description>

Crossing this over with knowing how information is stored and recalled, teachers have a good base to work off of to make sure their class is as welcoming toward all students.</p>]]></description>
