I believe the biggest hurdles for most students for College is Finances and necessity of an education. We as teachers should not only prepare them in the classroom for the real life. Field trips - Many of our students have not left their neighborhoods, even to the most basic things (example, I had students in Miami that had never been to the beach, never seen an ocean animal, never been to a play or concert, etc.).

Research shows that students who vacation are more likely to have higher test scores as well as later access to job opportunities. Although we cannot take them on full vacations, we can take them to see things, people, and places that will expose them to want to leave their neighborhoods.

Electives/ Clubs - Personally, I was a band nerd. I was in every band class I could be in. I loved drama. I loved art. These were activities that kept me involved in school (during AND after) and gave me opportunities to do things I never would have done if not for these activities (Grammy's event, concerts, plays, competitions, All-State band & out of county trips, etc.). Having more electives & clubs exposes students to other activities that keep their academics up, keep them involved in the campus, and keep them out of trouble. College Visits- Schedule college visits where students can visit colleges campuses and see first hand what it looks like.

He took a year off after high school, and he's been putting himself through college classes online. with the goal of an associate's degree in business He has over $15,000 in his savings account. He is currently in the management training program for Raising Cane's in League City, soon to transfer to the Wallisville location. So, no.
