He thinks that because Elijah is black means that he could be potentially dangerous. Banks thinks this way because he lives in a neighborhood that has a lot of crime involving blacks. Elijah is different from the people Banks are used to.
2.The view of blacks as "thugs" and violent people affects Banks view, because of his neighborhood.
