The main forms of music emerging in the 1920s were Jazz and Blues. The 2 musicians that fueled this era were Louis Armstrong and Jellyroll Morton. Louis Armstrong's songs are still very relevant to this day, one of them being What A Wonderful World. Jellyroll Morton is a less familiar name but his songs are still recognized, Dead Man Blues is his most famous work. These 2 allowed Jazz to flourish, they went around the south spreading there music from new oreleans.

Racial Tensions

The Ku Klux Klan also known as the KKK was a group of people who would raid/loot and attack "non-Americans". the imperial wizard, who is the boss of them all was named Hiram Evans. People credit him for focusing the KKK on recruitment and political ideas. This group was one reason that led to many racial tensions. Some other reasons include the segregation of blacks and whites and rising levels of racism. Dr. Ossian Sweet's case was an example of this, a white mob was attacking Sweet's home for moving into their neighborhood, rocks were thrown and windows broken, sweet then defended himself and his property and family by shooting a gun that ended up killing one white man. Sweet, his wife, and all residents of the house were arrested and charged with murder.

Inventions

The 1920s were full of inventions making life easier and more comfortable. the 3 most impactful in my opinion are the radio, the phonograph, and the refrigerator. the radio allowed Americans to get more entertainment in their day-to-day lives, it also allowed celebrities to grow in number. the phonograph is similar to the effect of the radio, it allowed more entertainment, it pretty much is an early model record player. this allowed people to buy and share music they liked and allowed musicians to prosper. and lastly, the refrigerator is the most beneficial. it allowed people to buy food in advance and keep it stored in a safe place instead of having to buy food every day. this allowed people to have more interesting meals, and people were less hungry.

Prohibition

From 1920-1933 was the prohibition era which was a period where alcohol was prohibited. But this ultimately caused a lot of problems like bootlegging alcohol. Bootlegging caused many deaths due to tainted liquor but approximately caused about 1000 deaths a year. This prohibition era had also caused mass amounts of corruption within the government as well as law enforcement. Law enforcement would be bribed to turn there eyes to the illegal sale of alcohol. Also another problem it caused was exploiting religion for alcohol since this was still legal. All of this took place in major cities like new york and chicago. One major person that thrived during this era was the notorious Al Capone who would sell liquor through his many rackets and fronts

The Red Scare

The Palmer Raids were a series of raids in 1919-1920 to arrest foreign anarchists communists and radicals, these raids were caused by social unrest after WWI and were led by Mitchel Palmer who was a victim of the bombings that took place but then decided to take a more immediate roll in stopping

The Sacco/Vanzetti case took place in the 1920s with the Italian anarchists Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, they were arrested for armed robbery and murder at a shoe factory but there arrests were quite controversial because the stolen money was never linked to them and this was largely because people were very prejudice towards immigrants and ultimately the trial ended in them being found guilty

Sports Figures

One major sport figure was Babe Ruth who played for the Braves and the Yankees in major league baseball. He is known for his skill as a baseball player shown by his 60 home run record in one season. He started to become a baseball symbol to young men all around America. He also had a pretty rough childhood and would ditch school and roam the streets drinking alcohol instead but eventually he discovered his love for baseball which ultimately saved him.

Another one was a female tennis player named Helen Wills. Helen was known for her 31 grand slam tournament wins as well as the 19 singles wins. There also was not a lot of female athletes at the time so she began to become an inspiration for a lot of young woman. Her love for tennis began at around the age of 8 when her father bought her her first tennis racket and shortly after she was enrolled in Berkeley tennis club.

Jackie Robinson was a baseball player for the dodgers and was know for his natural talent in baseball. In his early years he was a four sport student and ultimately baseball wasn't even his best sport he was mainly passionate about football and eventually played in university but ended up getting drafted for WWI but had ended up being dishonorably discharged for refusing to sit in the back of a segregated army bus. after this he was sent to an all black league where he was discovered by Branch who helped him join the dodgers where he became the first african american to play in the MLB
