"Voyage of discovery, during which perceptions are altered, unquestioned assumptions about culture and identity are challenged." ( Lopez- Barrios p. 314) Students can accomplish this task through autobiographical writing assignments, oral presentations on their native countries, compare and contrast holidays and traditions and discuss current events through a multicultural perspective.

Teachers should be aware of how many different languages are spoken in the class, many students of other countries speak more than one language. Teachers can ask students to speak in their own language and record them, the teacher can then ask students to identify each language they hear. " The ability to use plural repertoire of linguistic and cultural l resources to meet communication needs or interact with people form other backgrounds." ( Lopez- Barrios p 314) Students can exchange useful phrases or words in their target language that would be helpful in their own country.
