Liesel Meminger, a young girl who lost her brother tragically, seems to desire books to a great length. The young girl is often rather observant about the environments around her shown here, "Usually it was like spillage—cold and heavy, slippery and gray—but once in a while some stars had the nerve to rise and float, if only for a few minutes. On those nights, she would stay a little longer and wait," (54 Zuask).

Liesel is known as, 'The Book Thief'; the biggest reason for that is due to Liesel's rather strong desire for books. But not to be mistaken as given to her but rather she craves stealing books. The one thing that she will love the most seems to be stealing books as shown in most of novel and even mentioned here, "'I don’t want it.' The words were quieter now, but still just as hot. She threw The Whistler at the woman’s slippered feet, hearing the clack of it as it landed on the cement. 'I don’t want your miserable book,'" (272 Zuask). The quote doesn't show the entire story however but Liesel ends up returning to the house and stealing it for herself, she does this however as she felt that in someway it was more appropriate and or acceptable for her to do.

Although Liesel is actually a strong girl, she seems to get extremely close to others and that can lead to her downfall. When her new father, Hans Huberman, disappears at long periods of time while being with her mother, Rosa Huberman, she doesn't feel as cheerful as when Hans is around.
As mentioned in strengths, she is courageous however a weakness she tends to have to counter that is somewhat described best as fearful. I say this because when she steals a book from the flames she is almost scared that others may have seen her.

However, even though Liesel's relationships with others can ruin her, she is also very courageous and or brave in her own way. I say this because Liesel shows this when she will go to steal books, she is normally able to have the courage to do it.
Liesel also shows that she is rather upright with her words, which in turn can be a good thing in certain cases but in some other cases not so much.
