         <title>The End in Sight</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The last two weeks of the school year are upon us, and there is still so much to be done! <br><br>In an effort to provide our kiddos with the absolute BEST possible experience wrapping up the year’s learning journey, having all of our students on campus would make all the difference in the world. These students have grown to depend on each other, no surprise having been in a learning pod all year. When one student is absent, it affects the entire group, and diminishes the excitement and joy regarding the end of the year. Moreover, there is still much to accomplish academically. Case in point: end-of -year assessments. <br><br>The final domains to be completed before next Friday include units on Native Americans and Ecology. The assessments for the end of the year are extensive, and after careful review I have decided it’s in our best interest to begin the process as soon as tomorrow and Wednesday. <br><br>If the kids are in class I can prep them to do their best on the exams, but I am also available after hours to help your student get ready for testing. To that end, please feel free to contact me any time, but the sooner the better. <br><br>Otherwise, plan for testing to begin tomorrow and run through next Wednesday. As far as what you can do from home, having your student read to you is a great way to boost fluency scores and prepare for testing. <br><br>Math games are beloved by these kids so I encourage you to give them a go if you haven’t already. Math will be the last subject we test, likely to take place early next week. <br><br>In addition to testing, we have planned a few events for next week’s STEAM fest that the kids are spearheading. Because my class is home to the oldest of our students, they have been assigned leadership roles for next week’s activities. In many ways, the activities are dependent on the participation of our leaders. If for&nbsp; some reason you will not be able to attend next week’s festivities, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can try to make alternative arrangements for STEAM Fest. <br><br>For those of you planning to attend, all activities will commence at 1pm Monday-Thursday of next week, and parents are welcome to attend. The exhibit portion of the program will be situated in the gallery, (where we hosted the Chinese New Year exhibit earlier this year,) so be sure to stop by and check out all the impressive work your students created throughout the year. <br><br>The work displayed consists primarily of art, language arts, performing arts&nbsp; and science-related material. For those of you interested, there is still time to complete a science fair project to be included in the event, but this is not mandatory. If you choose not to complete an independent project, students will still lead the other kids in a science or art-based activity, in which all the materials and support will be provided by VPA teachers. <br><br>Among the events confirmed for STEAM Fest, please see the schedule and lineup included in this newsletter. Keep in mind all events are subject to change, but the calendar you see here is updated in real time so check back as needed.<br><br>All students should plan to assist in taking down the exhibition at the end of the school day on Thursday. At that time students may pick up finished work/ anything on display to take home once and for all.&nbsp; Parents should plan to come inside on Thursday afternoon during pick up, so as to help your student gather their belongings. We will finish up any cleaning on Friday morning, but all student belongings will go home by the end of the day on Thursday. <br><br>If you have any questions regarding this or next weeks agenda, or anything else for that matter, please do not hesitate to reach out anytime. <br><br>Thank you to all of you for your support during this unusual year.
