Technology? Technology Integration? SLE?  When we hear these words, what comes to our minds as teachers or students? Does it mean using computers, Internets, Apps, interactive boards for educational aims? There is no denying that one of the most current buzzwords in education is ICT and CMC. But there is a critical question here: what is ICT? And how CALL can affect education? The answer seems a little tricky. It may be either easy or tough to answer. 

While schools and universities have an annual budget for the integration of technology for academia to make professional development for learners, the result is a little disappointing and education is behind other sectors in engaging technology. Teachers are reluctant to employ it in everyday classes or administrators are unwilling to embrace advanced technology. This is due to several facts; First technology easily breaks down and users feel frustrated. Also, those who are dedicated to engaging it actively are not efficient users. Other factors such as its highly expensive price and maintenance which cannot guarantee its efficiency in the classroom are worth to be mentioned. Lack of users’ knowledge, as well as its time-consuming nature are among many reasons which hinder integrating it easily.

In order to do so, teachers need to twist technology with some instruction tools, namely planning, digital material developing, practicing, assessing and sharing feedback. The future of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) will mainly depend on many factors, including research in applied linguistics, language education and technological improvements. The existing cyborg, “the person uses specific wearable technologies like Google Glass, or even using laptops or mobile devices to do work(https://www.techopedia.com/definition/15651/cyborg), and the extensive use of technology like using applications and Internet are the future of yesterday. We need to sit and watch what the revolutionary tech will bring us.
