Seesaw Girl is the story of Jade Blossom, a twelve-year-old girl growing up in an aristocratic household in seventeenth-century Korea. The custom of the times forbade young girls of social standing from leaving their family compounds until they were married. As a result, Jade is curious about the world outside, especially when Willow, her best friend and aunt, marries and leaves her behind. Jade arranges a day of escape, but what she encounters is not all beautiful, and she realizes that her family home provides not so much imprisonment as protection. When she returns to her family, she understands she must be content with catching glimpses of the world thanks to a stand-up seesaw built close to the compound walls. Critics especially praised Park for her faithful depiction of daily life in seventeenth-century Korea.

The Kite Fighters (2000), Park again turned to family stories for inspiration, this time creating a work that would be a tribute to her father. At the center of the story is the rivalry between two kite-flying brothers, Kee-sup and Young-sup, who live in Seoul, Korea, in 1473. Kite fighting was a popular sport in the late fifteenth century, and each brother has his own unique talent. Older brother Kee-sup is gifted at kite design and construction, while Young-sup is a masterful kite flyer who has the ability to make kites dance in the wind. When the boy-king of Korea learns of their skills he enlists the boys to create a perfect kite for the all-important New Year's competition. In the book Park not only described the intricate world of kite fighting, but also explored the traditional roles the boys played, based on their position in the family.

When My Name was Keoko, published in 2002, is based on her parents' memories of growing up in Korea during the Japanese occupation of their country. After taking control of Korea in 1910, the Japanese government attempted to erase Korean traditions and customs, going so far as to make Koreans take Japanese names. "Keoko was my mother's Japanese name," Park explained in the Time for Kids interview. "That's where the title comes from." When Park was a young girl, her parents did not talk about their painful experiences, but after she began her research they opened up. "I asked them about their experiences," she told Durango, "and they did start talking. And talking ... and talking."Although based on her family, Keoko is a work of fiction that takes place in Korea in 1940. It is told from the perspective of a brother and sister, thirteen-year-old Tae-yul and ten-year-old Sun-hee, each of whom responds to their situation in very different ways. As World War II approaches, their lives are further threatened and their loyalty to family and country are increasingly challenged. It was a difficult story for Park to tell, and for her parents to revisit, but as she explained to Durango, "Your past is a huge part of what makes you you, and exploring the past can help you better understand the present and future."

Linda Sue Park uses different varieties of techniques. she uses symbolism , description, and tone. She demonstrates symbolism throughout her books , for example in the books A Single Shard , Seesaw Girl , When my name was Keoko , and Kite Fighters ,she uses objects to symbolise something that has a bigger meaning like the mountains, ivory ball, crane, fox, dragon, and tiger. In the book See Saw Girl she uses the mountains to represent hope and freedom .Linda sue park use many descriptions by describing the hair, culture, the clothes, their beliefs , and style. She also uses tone in her amazing books in a way that the reader can feel the motion that the character is experiencing. Linda Sue Park talks about the ivory ball when she illiterates, " At last year's New year celebration, to her great surprise and delight, her father had given her the tiny carved ball. Only then had Jade realized that her father knew of her interest in the large one."

In all of Linda Sue Park's books she uses inner thinking, dialogue, tone and symbolism. She uses these trends to develop her craft. Park uses symbolism Some AWE in A Single Shard is, " The fox would stare at him, looking deep into his eyes." (Park 2001). The fox represents fear of not being accepted. Another common trend is inner thinking. An AWE for that in When My Name was Keoko is, "Abuji read it to us again. when he finished the second time, Omoni clasped her hands and spoke, her eyes shining." Another common trend is dialogue. In Kite Fighters it says,"'Your face is like a month of rain my son,' she teased gently." Another common trend is symbolism. In Seesaw Girl it says,"the little ball immediately became her good luck charm." over park uses craft and trends to her books more interesting.

In the schools they stopped learning Korean and had to start learning Japanese. Constantly they were told to change something or give something up. They had to give up most of their food, and silver and burn plants native to Korea. Most of the things they took they used for the war. they thought Koreans were too weak and always had them killed first in the war. Until the Americans set them free.
