wThis story uses dramatic irony
Dramatic irony is a type of irony where the reader is aware of something that happens but the characters in the story are not.
-We know that the police officers are eating the murder weapon but they do not, and we also know mary killed her husband and they do not
Also the story contains situational irony
-Situational irony is a type of irony where you expect one thing to happen but the polar opposite ends up happening
- At, the beginning of the story we see Mary Moloney as and innocent woman who wouldnt harm. A fly, but then she kills her husband, totally different from how youd expect her to react

-the theme that is devopled is that even tho people belive people who are weak seem and powerless they have power to rise up and become strong
-at the begging mary is at her husbands beckon call ex
- had to get the house in oreder for her husband to be happy

-cathered towards him ex took his coat made him a drink and was goimg to cook him dinner
--seemed to only exisit to help her husband
-when she finds out about her husbands furure plan to get a divorse she doesnt fight back at the start and still offers to help him and make him dinner
-when he refuses her help she finnally relizes that she doesnt need a man in her life that bosses her around and ends up killing him
-the charector devoplment plays a big role in building the theme
-she then becomes a strong unremorseful woman example
-after killing her husband instaed of crying and beining upset she geels as if a weight has been lifted off her shoukders and feels free
-instead of worrying about her husband she only worrys about herself example
-right after killing him she doesnt stop to think and starts making herself sn aliby

Developement of Suspense

At the beginning of the story mary seems really sweet then ends up commiting a very big crime
This developes suspense because you wouldnt think Mary would do anything. She also seems as though she is just walking back to the kitchen with the leg of lamb then randomly hits her husband in the head
She is. Very good at acting which adds even more suspense because you don't know how much longer she has before she gets caught
Lastly the police officers are eating the weapon as they discuss what it might be, this developes suspense because they hve know clue what they are eating.
