What stuck with me the most from the video was how clearly the research shows that music doesn't just engage the brain—it actually changes it (not just exercise, another strike against that previous Ted Talk...). The idea that learning an instrument strengthens areas of the brain responsible for language, executive function, and emotional regulation really resonated with me. I am already sold on the value of music, of course, but it is always nice to have your beliefs supported by science.

Bleepo was great. It's always fascinating to me to observe how well children can identify good rhythm vs bad rhythm because it is one relatively objective part of music - how close a sound is aligning to a beat.

Music 100% changes a child's brain. Music is a time-based art, and forces a child to think in terms of frequencies and time division, and then tie that with emotions. Fascinating!

We always get kids saying "why do we study (fill in the blank). We're never going to use this in real life." And we reply because it helps us learn, it teaches our brain order, and other skills stem from this topic. I would argue that we need to teach music for the same reasons... and that we end up using it more on a daily basis than a lot of these other subjects we learn about.

I do think that music is excellent for the brain and helps students learn. However, I wonder about scanning these kids' brains every two years. There must be a better way to collect the data.
