ARTICLE ON SDG 2 (ZERO HUNGER) Hunger is a life-taking condition for any being in reference to plants, animals, and humans because without food life cannot exist however it has been reported in the year 2015 that people particularly young children from some parts of the universe like South African countries and some parts of India is dying of hunger therefore unanimously the world agreed to eradicate hunger and malnutrition with adequate and healthy food. But the clock has now reversed, and the world is in the same crises as it was before 2015. Hunger has surged worldwide, and those who get to eat, are not eating healthy food. As a result, there is now a high prevalence of malnutrition, particularly undernourishment. Nearly the 10th person in the world does not have access to proper nourishment, as per the UN’s latest “State of food security and Nutrition in the World” report. Malnutrition includes under nutrition, hidden hunger, and overweight conditions. So, a country like India where households are enduring both hunger and nutrition crises, is raising a generation of unhealthy citizens moreover the young generation getting addicted more and more to junk food and fast food. While hunger can be tackled with food supply, the threat of malnutrition is difficult to fight with this approach. Malnutrition is also a development challenge that will haunt us in the future because a country cannot base its growth on an unhealthy workforce and population. Rather, the disease burden of a malnourished generation will be too high for the country to fund and sustain. This makes the availability and affordability of a healthy diet or good food an existential as well as an economic challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war have stalled global progress on achieving zero-hunger and malnourishment targets under the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal for 2030 therefore every leader should enforce the laws in order to eradicate hunger and spread peace.
REFERENCE: INIDAN CURRENTS (MAGAZINE)
IMAGE; https://v1.padlet.pics/1/image.webp?t=c_limit%2Cdpr_1%2Ch_340%2Cw_508&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpadlet-artifacts.storage.googleapis.com%2F296276e5f87251fb5b06ebbecba5a6ac5da5e428%2F6d69d6de378c5aa480e397ea8de95d87.jpg

Evolution of education in India – from Chalk to Tablets

The Indian education system has changed drastically from the time I started going to school particularly since I heard about the education system from my parents as we are the first generation who have completed tertiary level education. However, history presents that since the post-independence from British rule education was previously accessible only to the elite and became available to the entire society. Later the education board established two committees – one for higher education and one for secondary education – to address the challenges of education, formulate comprehensive education policies and improve the overall education landscape of the country. Currently, Indian School System consists of four levels – pre-primary, primary, secondary, and higher secondary. Research has shown that students, who engage in an environment of free communication, perform better academically. According to a report by Google online education has the potential to touch $1.96 billion by 2021 as everyone, from school-going students to MBA aspirants to CXOs of multinational corporations and entrepreneurs, is a potential learner.

Global citizens can be described as lifelong learners, who possess the critical consciousness to drive 'active citizenship', recognize the inherent interconnectedness and dignity of all life, and instill the values of acceptance, equality, respect for diversity, empathy, and compassion. The Presentation Convent Senior Secondary school, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, India functions as an agent of social transformation by imparting value education, building responsible citizenship, inculcating compassion for the poor, and empowering of the girl child. The school encompasses the development of growing consciousness of the dignity and the rights of every person, thus enabling the person to live in fellowship. The different clubs like the Heritage club through various activities such as workshops, quiz, creative writing, exhibitions, and heritage walk to museums, archaeological sites, monuments, forts, and palaces undertaken by the club to help the students to imbibe moral ethics and love for their heritage. YSM (YOUNG Students Movement) which is liberal in nature and aims to remove structures and systems that do not respect human dignity.

Jharkhand is one of the most educationally backward states in India even in the late 1980s. However, there are 21,386 schools in almost 32,620 villages, on average, only 65 % of the villages in Jharkhand have a school with no proper infrastructure and facilities. Moreover, in typical Jharkhand villages, the distance between the habitation is sometimes more than 5 km thus the difficulty in access to schools faced by children in Jharkhand. People were happy and contented without going to school and they don’t feel the need for school. After working with those people for almost 4 and a half years I have observed that people are talented, and children are gifted and intelligent, but they are still unaware of the world around them moreover, young girls and boys live together, get married at an early age even at age of 15 onwards, the only way to make them realize their capabilities is through compulsive education thus the Christian missionaries began their good work there.

However, Education plays an important role in bringing certain benefits by developing the skills of students and people. The major role that education has been able to play in knowledge inculcation and skill improvement of persons increases livelihood opportunities and improves earning potentials in tackling the problems of poverty within one’s own family and the society. Additionally, udaan is a school-based initiative by the government that uses life skills-based education to promote healthy adolescent development in Jharkhand. Additionally, the Udaan program has a well-planned curriculum that covers life skills for students; goal setting; sexual harassment, adolescence to adulthood; marriage and parenthood; values of harmony; and moving ahead. Its teaching methodology uses participatory tools, such as games, stories, case studies, and quizzes, to foster multidirectional learning. It was originally developed for secondary schools but was later adapted and expanded for implementation in middle schools.

“Like an arrow in the blue sky another day flying by on my pillow, on my table yeah like this again life goes on” by BTS. Since the time I was born I have been observing the changes in every way possible in terms of life in my family, society, nationally, and globally. Some of these changes or transformations are constructive and some are destructive depending on the individual and life on earth. In today’s world, we feel overwhelmed by despair and fear, sin, war, and sickness that brings hopelessness and doubt about the future, in the midst of all the challenges if I must imagine the future in 200 years that would be a world that run on systems, sensors, cameras, artificial intelligence, and autonomous infrastructure, more individualistic and busy making money and materials for one’s own survival in a more luxury.

Unemployment is very high in the third world and in developing countries owing lack of quality education and skill training confidently in the future every nation and country would have more skilled and trained personnel to take up the role as there would be self-learning in the future.

In today’s world as there is a lot of reparation caused in the environment all over the globe like an increase in carbon emission, and natural calamities in different parts of the world like floods, drought, famine, etc due to which there would be an increase in sea level that would fill the land.

Hopefully, the future generation would witness a government that would be more collaborative locally, nationally, and universally than we do not see today additionally it will be about planning for greater population movement, a peaceful environment, and wealth distribution. We will be headed towards a world of equality and abundance where everyone is treated respectfully and with dignity.

Climate change is the reality of the world today as it is vivid that there is a change in the season, secondly, there is the increase in temperature everywhere across the globe due to an increase in the production of carbon, deforestation due transformation of villages to urban, however, the people of this 21st century are responsible for the same. As a mentor, I try to bring this awareness to the students to teach them about climate change therefore through special assemblies, street play and observing environmental week, instruct them first to take care of the environment through various activities. I also had planned activities such as taking them for a nature walk and sharing the importance of every creation particularly the plants in the life of humans, moreover, they are encouraged to participate in potted plant competitions to motivate them to They are given different themes to prepare a project such as based on drought, flood, the impact of technology on climate change, etc. additionally rallies are organized to promote plastic-free zone cities also Afforestation, and slogans on climate change. Encourage them to write short essays, articles, and poems and post them on media such as newspapers, magazines, Instagram, etc.

Through students, we try to bring awareness to society to bring about changes.
