To help students move beyond competence to inspiration, students should not only have knowledge of SS ideas but also understand why they are studying them. Teachers can help students see relevance and forge connections between these ideas and real-world context.

2. Read up more so I can have a stronger understanding of global affairs, particularly when things are moving so quickly across the world currently. Get parents to be involved to share their stories and experiences to the class based on the topic, ie. Dont forget your thermometer which also touches on the period during SARS. As a teacher, I could only share my experience as a 16 year old teenager. But, if PVs can come into the classroom to share (like how in US, parents can drop by the classroom to talk about their job/career), it would be really interesting and inspiring to hear from a peer's parent point of view,etc.

2. Hearing from knowledgeable others. I was inspired listening to Mdm Samia's sharing and experiences. I believe children are easily inspired when they have someone knowledgeable in the subject and can conduct the lesson in a fun yet educational manner.
