The Westminster Abbey was founded as a Benedictine monastery over a thousand years ago, the Church was rebuilt by Edward the Confessor in 1065 and again by Henry III between 1220 and 1272 and is renowned worldwide as an architectural Gothic masterpiece. Henry wanted it to be more than a place of worship and was use for British monarchs' coronations and burials.

It has flying buttresses, ribbed vaulted ceilings, pointed arches, rose windows and also include single rather than double aisles and a long nave with wide projecting transepts; all of this indicated that pertains to the Gothic style. It was built with sandstone.
