Many girls are married off young because their family is very poor and can not afford to provide for their daughter (Article 1). Currently, many issues are being raised about the dangers of child marriage. Marrying off young girls normally leads them to experiencing abuse from their husband and not receiving proper education (therefore not graduating). They also have more of a chance to die during child birth. Laws for the minimum age of marriage in the past have varied from ages 15-18 but they did not last long and were soon repealed (Article 2). Discussions as to when girls should get married vary. Some say to wait until their child has reached puberty, but others say that is not old enough.
