Mary Shelley's Frankenstein centralizes around Dr. Victor Frankenstein who figures out how to create life. He puts his acquired knowledge to the test by bringing an artificial man to life. At first, Dr. Frankenstein is pleased with his creation until he realizes the consequences of his feat, and retreats home to his estate.

Frankenstein was written by Mary Shelley and it was published January 1, 1818. The first available form of the story of Frankenstein is the novel.
