The firebombing of Tokyo was led by the United States air force, in revenge for mistreatments of its American prisoners in Japan, and the huge amounts of American death caused by Pearl Harbor.
1930s- The economic depression hit hard, especially countries that were dependent on America, including Germany and Japan. The rise of fascism was affecting both Europe and Asia. On March 1933, both Roosevelt and Hitler became the most powerful leaders of America and Germany respectively. Then came a rise in fascism, where nationalism, and the increase of military ignited people to believe that one's own country is superior than others.
1940s-Everything was focused on World War II. Mass production of guns, steels and airplanes lead to an end of the great depression, as many Americans returned to work. Germans and Japan controlled a big fraction of Europe and Asia respectively, though it ended with the Allies coming back. This ended World War 2, with the Japanese surrender, but the rise of Soviet Union and communism, feared America, leading to a cold war.

Korea was formally annexed by Japan on August 22, 1910. This symbolizes that Japan became the most powerful country in the Asia-pacific region, as China and Russia both faced internal and external conflicts, forcing these countries to hand over Korea. Japan rules Korea with brutal force, both socially (culturally) and economically under one government located in Tokyo to modernize Korea with dominant control. Therefore, Japan was now safe and secure from its Asian countries, as it occupied "the dagger" which faced Japan and could be a pathway to invade China and Russia for manpower and resources.

There were economic and social leaps, because Japan got more modernized and westernized with middle classes working in jobs living in major cities. This was a chaotic period in Japan’s history since Japan was still very conservative, and therefore these ideas clashed with others who wanted nationalism and life under the Meiji period, where people lived in harmony under the emperor’s rule. Therefore, the Taisho period was a societal change where Japan experienced many social differences, but failed due to opposing viewpoints inside where some feared that Japanese traditions and cultural might be lost, evoking nationalism and facism inside Japan.

The warlord period in China occurred during the mid-1920s, after the death of Yuan Shikai, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty. Warlords held control of approximately a small landmass, which divided China, preventing a strong formation of the central government. However, the warlords had gradually supported either the Nationalist or the Communist government, which eventually led to the civil war. Therefore, this made it easy for the Japanese army to invade China, (Second-Sino Japanese war) since the country was brutally torn apart, as each warlords wanted to gain more territory, resulting in multiple deadly conflicts.

At a night shift, the Japanese commander realized that one Japanese soldier was missing during the night exercise. The Japanese military group demanded a search so marched to Wanping, a neighboring village, however, the Chinese military denied entry to the city. Suddenly, a shot was heard, provoking both the Chinese and the Japanese soldiers to fight. This marks the start of the second Sino-Japanese war. Therefore, as China became strengthens, with the unification of Southern China by the nationalist government, and the imperialist style Japan inherited from Western countries, the war between China and Japan would have been inevitable.

On September 18, 1931, Japanese soldiers planted small dynamite on their own railway station. Then, a small bombing on the railway station occurred, and the Japanese government blamed the Chinese government for bombing the railway station, making a justified reason to invade the rest of Manchuria. However, after the investigations led by the league of nations, this incident was purposely conducted by the Japanese government. Therefore, this event "saved" the Empire, as Japan faced several economic hardships, with a rapid population boom, resulting to a less living space, but Manchuria was the perfect area to execute Japanese plans, which was the mining of natural resources, with more spaced for their population to live.

President Truman became increasingly worried that the American army had to face severe fighting as they were approaching the Japanese mainland, with the harsh victory over Okinawa. The Manhattan project led by prominent scientists made a creation of a highly destructive weapon, the atomic bomb. This bomb was dropped on Hiroshima then on Nagasaki, killing at least 200,000 civilians in total, resulting in the Japanese surrender, therefore, marking the end of World War 2. Therefore, the atomic bombs symbolize American power with the end of WWII, but also a strong political will to outpace the Soviets, ultimately becoming a cold war.
