Sometimes the best lessons and support you get in life are the people who doubt you. They made a difference in my story and propelled me to become the first in my family to graduate college, even when they said I couldn't. I'm proud to be first-gen and thankful to all those who helped me along the way. And to my mom who still helps me today by being my biggest cheerleader - love you always Mo!

As a 1st gen student, I was struggling to complete my courses and to navigate college. Neena walked up to me in the cafeteria and offered to meet with me. The same day I was signed up for Finacial Aid, had the textbooks I needed and was able to complete the courses.

My Federal Work Study job was in the campus activities office. The Dean of Students and her staff supported and inspired me to keep moving forward, even when setbacks arose. A trusted faculty member who was both my professor and club advisor, and who has been first gen himself, was also instrumental not only in completing my BS but to go on and pursue my MA.
