Delegates from 9 colonies gathered in Philadelphia and had concerns against Britain. As a result there was a boycott against British goods. This was important because the colonists thought that Parliament wanted to take away their freedom. It was a resolution created by the Continental Congress. It broke all ties between colonists and the British, creating the idea in America that the colonies were now "states". The document stated the separation of the 13 American colonies from Great Britain.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

There was a need for a stronger central government. <br>There was an uprising of rural, indebted farmers in western Massachusetts, against Boston creditors. It began in 1786 and lasted half a year. It threatened the economic interests of the business elite and contributed to the demise of the Articles of Confederation.</div>]]></description>
