Detective Pilgrimage Tale

Frank used to be a detective, a well known one too,

But now, years later, he has nothing to do.

Frank’s life used to be great, with his wife and his dog,

He loved his job and he even used to go on a daily jog.

Now he sits alone on his couch, eating swiss rolls and watching television,

The only thing left to do was look at his old cases with precision.

Frank wondered where he had gone wrong,

What had he done to make him out of work for so long.

Now, the only thing on Frank’s mind, was a story from a long time,

His mother told him this rhyme, about a boy during christmastime. The boy had been poor, and had never gotten gifts from Santa Claus,

He had a rough childhood and money was always the cause.

One day the boy realized that money wouldn’t get him far,

And from that day on, he told himself he would have to work hard.

20 years later, the boy is a rich doctor,

His mom lives with him, and his life choices really shocked her.

The boy then decided that he would buy presents for the poor,

So little kids would have to go through those hardships, no more.

Now, the boy dedicates his life helping others,

He loves his job and he finally can see things in different colors.

Frank plopped out of his chair and went outside to take a walk,

After years of no work, he was finally ready to become the next Sherlock.

He had stopped for a donut, when he saw out of the corner of his eye,

A mask and a money bag, followed by a bad guy.

This was the day, that Frank's life would be turned around,

His body filled with excitement and his heart began to pound.

Three days later, and the robber was in jail,

Frank had caught him red-handed and got a letter in the mail.

Frank became the head detective, and had lost a couple pounds,

London considered him a hero, and he was known in many towns.

Frank’s heart was no longer broken from his ex and his job,

He was happy and slim all thanks to the guy who robbed.

Frank had been heartbroken for so long, that he didn't even realize,

That his life could be so much better if he just opened his eyes.

The only way to happiness, is if you make the changes yourself,

Instead of sitting around in pity, feeling sorry for himself.

Frank had met a nice lady, and loved her with all his heart,

Today was the day he would propose, and his new life would start.

After many years of sadness, Frank can finally see,

That after the bad days, comes good ones, when you can finally be happy

I’ll get us some beer”.

A few seconds later he pulled out of his pocket

A license that could win him a spot on the docket

Out of his hand the man took the card

He squinted his eyes and examined it hard.

The boys stood there and waited, not sure he’d accept,

But he handed it back and in the bar they stepped

“How did you do you that? How’d we get in!”

“It’s my brother’s, I stole it. He gave us a win!”

They sat at the bar and had them some drinks

They were gleeful and happy and cheered with some “Clinks”

Then all of a sudden they heard from the streets

A racket and chaos; they rose to their feet.

Outside they ran to see what had happened

When suddenly they felt on their shoulders a tapping

“Down on your knees with your hands in the air!”

They quickly obliged but were awfully scared.

“We didn’t do anything, I promise you sir”

“Well, we’re taking you in, just to be sure”

Down to the station the cops took their prey

They tried them for criminals, then locked them away

“We’re calling your mother’s and letting them pay

To come bail you out and take you away”

“So you’re not gonna charge us? You’re letting us go?”

“Don’t get your hopes up, we still do not know

If you were the ones who committed the crime

Or not. Now it’s all just a matter of time”

About twelve minutes passed, then a witness came in

Claiming she knew where the boys had just been.

“I promise you deputy, they committed no crime

They were just at the bar having such a great time!”

Then all of a sudden the boys suddenly knew

That their lying had got them in deep, deep doo-doo.

“What have we done”, they all thought in their heads

If their mothers found out, they’d surely be dead

And as if on cue, in rushed their moms

Because of their angst, they were nowhere near calm

“Ma’ams”, said the officer, the one taking the lead

“We seem to have quite the tabacle, indeed.”

He explained what had happened, how he’d thought they were thieves,

But soon realized they had something else up there sleeves

Told them, he did, how they’d lied ‘bout their ages

Which brought them to now, the boys locked in their cages.

The mother’s, first frightened, were now all ashamed

That their sons would take part in such foolish a game.

After signing some papers and paying their fine

The boys were let go, but had to give time

They learned a great lesson by lying that day

That one little lie could cause great dismay.

Now, Saturday nights, instead of thrill seeking

This group of boys is stuck inside sweeping.
