We could start to think about how Caritas organisations, whether they’re big or small, actually make a “commitment”.

Thinking along something similar to INDCs – intended nationally determined contributions - and NDCs – nationally determined contributions in the climate change space – but – transferring this framework to the refugees & migrants and share the journey space …

Caritas members could have their own Talanoa (talk), decide on what they can contribute, submit it to a central sharing mechanism – perhaps CI– and CI could perhaps compile and put together some interactive comms around building strength in solidarity.

This approach, if done right, would also aim to allow or even to facilitate each local Caritas group, whether at a Parish, local capital base, or out in the margins & peripheries and with all its different perspectives, interests and cultural idiosyncrasies to do what feels right for them consistent with their specific resources, in part, time.

This sort of global advocacy could trigger growth in solidarity by building momentum over time.

Other "tangible" ideas include:
- A vigil (pastoral)
- Watch a film

As I sit and think of what to share, what comes to mind immediately are these themes:
Contributors not criminals.
People are opportunity not threat.
Hear their voice - they have something to tell us.
How to concretize such themes into simple action? The simpler, the better.
I will give a true life example. In 1975, my first year in the seminary, our logic teacher, a priest, said if you remember nothing else from logic, you will remember this and it is true - I do remember what he shared to this day. What did he share?
"Beer and whiskey very risky. Whiskey and beer never fear."
I am not being frivolous here but there is a message in this silly story that has a key for us in working to put together a campaign.
Aim is a slogan or action that is simple and that people will take away and remember for applying to life.
I will keep thinking.
John P Murray osa

I love the idea of Art and Expression as having no borders. . . and would love to have it focused on youth being invited to learn about Migration and think about our faith-inspired response, and to submit work in any media that addresses the theme: “Share the Journey of Young Migrants and Refugees.” to their national Caritas. Would highlight a tie between the Synod, upcoming Apostolic Exhortation on Youth, and raising up the voices and gifts of young people. Videos, photos of art, etc. could be featured on social media and shared to the world! (Global Youth Movement around Migration) With current technology - a rather simple option. . . each region could choose to to do it as a competition or just invite anyone to participate and post.
(CCHD annual does it as a competition in the US)

As for timing, this is a global campaign. So it is best not to define the timing according to any one region but allow a wide range of timing to fit a global context.

A literary or artistic activity could include the search for a theme or catchy phrase for long term use. Such activity opens it up to the younger and wider diversities of populations for their contribution. They then come up with the theme, the long term phrase that will be a lasting legacy of this campaign.

1. A day to share our skills with others: During the day of the event, IDPs, migrants and refugees can teach some of their skills to local people (they can choose previously what they will teach and prepare a small workshop). In this way, they will be able to show the local community that migration enriches society.

2. Another idea is to do something related with art. Somalis like to draw and they express many things through art. We believe this is a good healing tool and a good way to find common ground between different cultural and social groups.
