The word teenager hadn't even existed until the dating life. Automobiles were becoming a thing, movies were booming, radios were great for listening to sports. The Nineteenth Amendment was passed in 1920. Women were able to have technology to help them wash clothes and clean faster.

Fundamentalism is The Sacco and Vanzetti trial in Massachusetts and the Scopes trial in Tennessee revealed that many Americans’ had fears and suspicions about immigrants, radical politics, and the ways in which the new scientific theories could challenge traditional Christian beliefs. The really old and the brand new came into great conflict in the 1920s. While many Americans celebrated the emergence of modern technologies and less restrictive social conflicts, others strongly disagreed to the social changes of the 1920s. Some people embraced nativism, prizing white Americans with older family trees over more recent immigrants also rejecting outside influences in favor of their own local customs and what they are used to.

Its essence was summed up by Alain Locke when he declared that through art, "Negro life is seizing its first chances for group expression and self-determination." Jazz music was a huge hit during the Harlem Renaissance, it really brought people together. People that were stuck on alcohol had something to do now.

I think the Roaring 20s was a direct it for the Great Depression because of all of the money and time spend on coming out with new things and finally a bank system for people to have actual credit. They were finally coming out with a loan type system for example if you were buying a washing machine and did not have all of the money counted for to buy the machine then you could set up a ¨buy now, pay later¨. Once you get that washing machine you had to have it in your house of course and all of the right hook up so you should get an installment plan, get yourself a person to bring it in, set it up and bam you have a new washing machine. Laws and rules that protect people who shop and spend are examples of consumerism. An obsession with shopping and acquiring stuff is an example of consumerism.

Fundamentalism a new kind of Christianity emerged. The Fundamentalists believed that the Bible should be taken in the literal sense and rejected ideas such as Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Fundamentalism rejected the new, modern consumer culture, relaxed ethics, and morals. This lead to the Monkey Trial. John Scopes was accused of teaching Darwinism rather than the doctrine of divine creation. John Scopes was found guilty and was fined $100. By the end of the 1920s, the fundamentalist movement had lost control of the major denominations and the movement began to decline.

The period is considered a golden age in African American culture, manifesting in literature, music, stage performance, and art. The most celebrated names in American music is Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith, and more. The Cotton Club was where new music came a vibrant nightlife. They realized the white culture wanted to socialize with African Americans and created clubs to cater them. There was also many poets. Harlem's creative boom began with the stock market crash and wavered until prohibition, which meant white patrons no longer sought out the illegal alcohol in uptown clubs.

This Great Migration eventually relocated hundreds of thousands of African Americans from the rural South to the urban North. Unfortunately, northerners did not welcome African Americans with open arms. White laborers complained that African Americans were flooding the employment market and lowering wages. Most new migrants found themselves segregated by practice in run down urban slums. The largest of these was Harlem. Writers, actors, artists, and musicians glorified African American traditions, and at the same time created new ones. Was an intellectual, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem, New York, spanning the 1920's.
The Roaring 20’s was a decade of prosperity and dissipation. Music was really starting to become big and woman started having a voice in the world. The 1920’s were a age of dramatic social and political change. For the first time people started living in the cities instead of on farms. The nation's total wealth more than double between the 1920’s and 1929. These years were a huge change for the world.

In no less than 5 sentences, I want you to tell me HOW the Roaring 20’s may have been a direct cause of the Great Depression. In your response I want you to use the following vocabulary terms: Credit, “buy now, pay later,” installment plans, and consumerism. Each of these terms must be underlined. The period from 1920 to 1929 is known as the Roaring Twenties. Those years were exciting, fascinating, and entertaining for the U.S. population, all the men that had just fought and won World War 1, is was known for the war to end all wars.during this time period woman had gained the right to vote the woman had credit in things in this day in time, and some people have got new electric machines that made life easier, such as washing machines and vacuum cleaners, ovens.. Every day moreand more people brought a radio into their homes it was a hug consumerism to everyone. There was so many big things coming out during this time. The prices of their stocks steadily increased through the 1920s, going on a huge ride upward between 1926 and October of 1929. All of the stock prices went far beyond realistic values and had little basis in the health of the companies. These skyrocketing stock prices signaled trouble for the U.S. econom and installment plans. The crash of the New York Stock Exchange on October 29, 1929, signaled the start of the Great Depression. It was the worst economic crisis in U.S. history. This period would last until 1941, when the United States began preparations to enter world war 2.
