Discussion#2: Imagine what it would be like to live in isolated hiding. How would you feel? What everyday necessities would you have to give up? How would this affect your relationships with friends and family? Would you be able to live your life the way you are living it now?

Living in isolated hiding, would be difficult because living by yourself would mean it would be harder to get recorces. Also your family would probably be remembered as for they can not be hiding with you. It would feel horrible because you will be alone, no one to talk to. And it would be so much more difficult than the life you would be used to having. You would be living in one place until it is safe.

it would affect our relationships whith freinds like ben and i because we can't see talk to or communicate with others.

and we will not know if we are alive or not or we may even forget about each other . we might also not be able to live and we will mabe even die.

If I was in isolation i would be sad and cry because i wouldn't be with my family. I wouldn't be so close with my family like I'm now. No i wouldn't be living the same life right now. Things i would give up

I would feel lonely. I NEED people to talk to, I would get really depressed. I would probably realize everything my parents have done for me, same with my friends and family. I would have to give up a warm bed, good food, and a big house. I wouldn't be able to live life the way I live it now,  because if whoever I was hiding from saw someone with me, both of us would DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Atmosphere is the general feeling or mood in a work of literature. Writers create atmosphere by using imagery and descriptions. For example, in chapters 1 and 2 the description of the Nazi soldiers as they stop the girls sets up an atmosphere of danger and fear.In contrast, there's an atmosphere of happiness and pride in the descriptions of King Christian. In these two chapters, as in the rest of the book, you'll find many places in which the atmosphere changes suddenly, for example, from comfort to menace. How might these sudden changes be an accurate picture of life during wartime?

These sudden changes are a accurate because life during war is hard. They didn't have sugar, coffee, leather. And the writer if the book wanted to show us how lucky we are to have sugar, coffee, leather. Also how hard it was during the war and how scary it would be.

it would make scene that he wrote it like that because you won't know when people will attack you. and so also if they take control over the country you won't be able to live a normal life you would have to be controlled by the people and would not be able to have fun. like get buttons or yellow cup cakes sugar or coffee. Also if you are religious you might not be able to go to you're ecclesia.

I think these sudden changes cause an accurate picture for the time of war because:
in war, you never know what's going to happen.
You could get bombed, captured, or even something small like not being able to buy buttons.
It could go from a happy dinner with the family to getting led out of your house and put in a concentration camp.

I think that the sudden changes are necessary because if he didn't go back and forth would just be a happy or sad book and people would probably not be interested as much as if it were both happy and sad. It would also show a lot more detail.

What do you think Mr. Johansen means when he says, "It will be a long night"? Predict what might happen at the Johansens' home during the night.

What he ment by a long night, I think it is that they will have to be aware of soldiers the whole night and hide. And most of time that is not a easy thing, especial when you are hiding from soldiers. And I think that they will survive that night but will have more nights to come.

I think chapters 3 and 4 because at the end of chapter 3 it says " She was glad she was an ordinary person but it does not say her complete thoughts .

In chapter 4 it leaves us with a Cliff hanger because all it says is Mr.Johan

In chapter 4 you are left with wondering what is going to happen in the night hiding. And in chapter 3 you are left without being told who that "ordinary person for courage."

In chapter 3, I feel like it is a cliffhanger because it never said why she never wanted to be called upon ofr courage. Maybe she was scared, many she didn't think she was trustworthy, who knows? In chapter 4, I don't think it's as much as a cliffhanger, but the feeling is still there.

I am taking part of that rescue because the Jew did not do anything against Germany so I thought that we should help them . I would also do it because when Lise died I was so sad and I don't want this to happen to other people just like it happed to me. I am doing this also because we need to stop all the torturing that the Nazi's are doing because it is just not right.

because they the Johansens are friends with peter. They like the rosens so they work together to save more people that love the bible. Because in chapter 11 they read a psalm and everyone liked it. Also Peter already lost someone in his life and he knows what it feels like. So he does not want others to feel the same way. Because it is a terrible feeling to have one of you're closest friends die. So he helps others to not feel that way. (so terrible and sad) imagine losing a sibling. Would you help others so they don't lose someone?

I decided to take part in this rescue because I feel like it is the right thing to do. The Nazis are torturing the Jews, and we need to stop it. Also, my future wife who died (Excuse me while I cry for a bit) had a family that I visit a lot. They are best friends with a family of Jews. I am part of a society that protects the Jews, and I will do whatever it takes to help them in their time of need. Even if it means dying. Even if it means... The Nazis will probably find me. And kill me. But the Jews need help, so here I am.

The last statement in this chapter says, "But their (The Rosens) shoulders were as straight as they had been in the past: in the classroom, on the stage, at the Sabbath table. So there were other sources, to, of pride, and they had not left everything behind." What do you think the author is trying to say by this statement? What is pride? And why does this show the Rosens still have pride?

I think that the Rosens stil have pride becasuse through everything they have done they always had a straight face and they had eachother and were not seperated like most of the other jewish family.

The title of Number the Stars comes from Psalm 147:4, which Peter reads aloud in chapter 10. In the psalm, God can number the stars one by one—which shows that he knows everything. The psalm describes how God reunited the people of Israel—that is, the Jews—after they were persecuted and helped them to rebuild. This is similar to the way the Jewish survivors of the Holocaust had to rebuild their lives after World War II. Why do you think the Jews read Psalms 147:4 during this time? #FavoritePsalm PSALM i think they red the the psalms to calm their minds and to remind them their not alone 119 IS MY FAVORITE. BECAUSE IT IS SO LONG AND YOU CAN LEARN A LOT FROM IT. and you learn stuff like in verse 62 it says At midnight i will rise up to give thanks to you so he wants to pray in peace and in verse 147 he also says he wakes up early

My favorite Psalm is 62:2
because it tells that God will watch over us. When there is a time when you are sad you look that he is our salvation and it's comfortable. You could read it in a time of comfort or sadness. I like this psalm because it's shows us that God will be with us.

I think they read it because they could relate to it and it gave them hope. They are giving him praise.The whole Psalm is talking about that God helped his people. They feel that they are a like the Israelite's. During the times of Moses they were slaves and they didn't have the things that they had before. I think they are comforted by the Psalm. I think that's why the like it they can relate to the psalm and they are comforted by the Psalm.

I think this psalms is important to them because it comforted them and made them feel like they were not in a scary situation were they could be killed or separated from there own family's.

My favorite Psalm is Psalm 51 because it talks about how Christ will come to Mount Zion and he will reign there. I think that Psalms 51 is a good Psalms that makes you fell comforted and gives you hope.
