A photo of my girlfriends and coworkers going on a trip and me tagging along. When I joined their group trip.

This event illustrates the out-group concept as me not being apart of my girlfriend work in group I would have mild competition with the in group to gain attention. Also debate on wether my job is better or theirs.

Deeper Connections
1. What does this/ it mean ?
We group ourselves in many different ways race, job, sports team. With all these groupings their is a certain competitive aspect between the out-group and the in-group.

2. What is missing that is important to note?

The competitive aspect of me being in the out group in this situation as we are all friends taking a picture.

In this picture I was helping a friend create a music video. He dressed in the way his music is portrayed which is against the status quo.

This event illustrates the course concept of deviance. As my friend is wearing nail polish and a number of rings which is not a social norm for men in America. As well as the majority of his clothes and hair have black and dark colors which is also not the “norm” in California.

1. What does this/it mean?

This means that their are a number of ways to display deviance in a society and not all of them are harsh and bad. Some may associate this word with murder or other awful thing but it can be as simple as wearing dark clothes.

2. Who benefits from this?

Everyone, because the more counter culture we have the more we can revise wether the culture we have is really fair.
