20.I wish the author would change this one part of the book, because….

When you reach me is about a girl named Miranda and how she keeps on getting these notes from somebody. Miranda is the protagonist and she loves the book A Wrinkle in Time. She always asks herself if time travel is possible? Miranda reminds of Jillian because they both love to read and they both read a wrinkle in time, the picture above is a drawing of Miranda and if you take away the map on her face she looks like Jillian . In When you reach me, Miranda's friend Sal, got punched and now Sal won't talk to Miranda anymore and starts to play basketball. Sal got punched by Marcus. Marcus is the same age as Miranda and Sal. Miranda makes some new friends (Colin her crush, Annemarie) and some enemies, but in the end she has tones of new friends and no enemies. Each day when Miranda goes home there is an old man on the corner and people call him the laughing man. He's called that way because he would sleep under a mailbox and kick all day. He only did that for practice because one day Sal almost get hits my a car and the laughing man kicks him out-of-the-way and dies in his place! The laughing man is Marcus in the future.

The part of the book When You Reach Me that I would like to change is the part where they talk about time travel in Miranda's book (A wrinkle in time). I don't like that part because the conversation has nothing really to do with When You Reach Me. Also, I don't understand the part about how they left a minute earlier they would not land in broccoli, I just don't get it. I still think that they should keep this part just not so complicated. As you can see this whole paragraph is confusing just like in the book When You Reach Me. The only good things in the part of the book When you Reach Me is that they discuss Miranda's book A Wrinkle in Time that she always keeps with her, and I am glad that she loves to read because I do to. I don't want to ruin Miranda's conversation with the future laughing man whose name is Marcus

6. Some characters play small but important roles in a story. Name such a character. Why is this character necessary for the story?

September 11th, 2001, Alex's birthday.
When Alex turns eleven all he wants for his birthday is a dog or an airplane (obviously he can't have an airplane).
The night before his birthday he asked his parents for a dog his parents say if he improves his grades and be responsible. Alex gets mad at his dad that night and the last 3 words he said to him is; "I hate you". Tomorrow (his birthday) the day already turns out horrible starting with Jordan, the school bully, who smashes his cupcakes on the bus. Then school ends early with no explanation, that's when his adventure starts and when he finds a stray dog called Radar.

A character that is necessary for the story is Calvin. He is one of Jordan's "Goons". He has a small part in this story. He is an antagonist at the beginning but we learn more about him and it turns out he is a protagonist. When Jordan tries to throw a glass bottle on Radar, Calvin tries to stop him, instead, Jordan gives him a black eye and Radar a bloody ear. Later in the story, while Alex is taking the bus, he runs into Calvin. They have a conversation and Alex learns that Calvin is an ok guy. That is how Calvin has an effect on the story.

What questions would you ask if you could talk with the author? Which would be the most important question? How might the author answer it?

If I could ask the author anything about the book I would want to know how they had the idea of having the main character have a crippled foot. I would wonder if she had any relationship with someone who had a crippled foot or if she had one. Another question I would ask is if she lived during a war or if her family did. She might answer yes that her family lived through one but I'm not sure if she did. I would also ask if one of the characters are based on her and her relatives and friends. Of course, I think that one question that would be very important would be: Where did you get the inspiration? beacause if she answerd that qustion it almost as if she answerd all of them.

The war that saved my life is a book about a girl named Ada and her journey with a cripple foot. The story starts in England where Ada used to live with her mean, rude, wicked mom and her little brother Jamie. Ada always wanted to see the world but her mother didn't let her, she thought that Ada being crippled meant that she had no right and had to stay inside doing the dishes all day long. One day Jamie comes home and tells Ada how all the town children are leaving the next morning to escape the war. Ada asked her mom if she and Jamie would go to and her mother said of course not, no one want's to take care of a cripple. So the next day, early in the morning Ada and Jamie snuck out to take the train to escape the war. When the got to the town where they would stay no one would want to take them in so the woman in charge of the protection of children brought them over to and friends house, Susan Smith. Susan Smith didn't want to take them it but by the end of the story Susan is attached to the children and fights for them under any cause.

The fact that people treated cripples differently back then relates with our life now. There are still tons of people out in the world that treat others, not only cripples but people that they think are different from the rest of us. I highly dought that humans will ever change, they might just a little but there will always be humans out there who are against you just because you're not like them, just because you're unique. I must say that there has been a change since the war and now but we could still use some work. Just remember that no matter what others say we will always be unique and we should all respect it
