Quincy Jones said that he had a close relationship with Ray Charles and he felt the man’s influence both musically and at the personal level. Their meeting happened in Seattle during the 1950s, by which time Charles had already a relatively strong influence in the music scene, and Jones was learning bass from him. He opened up for Jones to Jazz, Blues and the many sides of Arrangement. Charles also kind of encouraged him to work on fusions of styles, which, by the way, became characteristic of Jones.

Frank Sinatra had a great influence on Quincy Jones's career and style of music. They first worked together in the late 50s when Jones arranged for Sinatra’s album called It Might as Well Be Swing in 1964. The unique personality, thus discipline and self-demand that was seen in Sinatra helped to influence Jones to grow an appreciation for workmanship and versatility in music. This trust also made history for the period, where Sinatra hired a Black musician to arrange for a white singer.

Avial has had a notable impact on Agam’s musical style, especially in their mix of traditional Indian elements with modern rock. Recognized for being pioneers of "alternative Malayali rock," Avial merges Malayalam lyrics with a mix of folk and alternative rock, resulting in a unique sound within Indian rock. This creative style has influenced Agam, who also fuses traditional Indian music with rock, but from a Carnatic fusion perspective. While Avial brought attention to using local language and regional themes in rock, Agam built upon this by using Carnatic classical music, appealing to a wide audience with their complex and melodic arrangements. Both bands have made major contributions to the regional rock scene, enhancing cultural sounds to the forefront of mainstream Indian rock (India Art Review, 2024; Rolling Stone India, 2018).
