my Lacey girl

we adopted Lacey when she was 12 weeks and she was my best friend. when she got to around the age of 4 she started having seizures at random times but not consecutively, it would be once every like 5-6 months. she would go a long time before having another seizure so we would always think she's fine and doesn't get them anymore. until one night in July of 2021 my parents were out of town with my sister for a softball tournament and it was just me and my brother home with my cousin. it was storming pretty bad that night and our other dog cheech was barking at what we thought was thunder. lacey didn't really like to sit on the couch with us the same way cheech did, lacey would rather sleep upstairs. so cheech was on the couch barking and lacey was sleeping upstairs, or so we thought. cheech was going insane so I went upstairs to check on everything and I found lacey seizing. I'm pretty good at knowing what to do in those situations know just because of how much they have happened so I just held her while she seized and waited for her to get out of it. when she was done she got up and tried going downstairs but then she had another seizure and fell down the stairs. from then she seized on and off for 2 hours. in those 2 hours we were calling animal hospitals and vets near me, we called my parents but they couldn't do much because they were in the state over from us, although my dad did drive home that night. we took lacey to the emergency room and she had to stay there over night. the day after the next we still hadn't seen her and then my dad called us into the living room crying. that's when I knew she didn't make it. I cried for weeks. everytime I think about her or talk about her I cry. she was my best friend in the whole world. I was 10 when we got her and she didn't even get to make it to 10, she was only 7.

7th grade might've been one of the worst years if my life. I lost so many friends and lost the relationship I had with my parents. it continued into 8th grade and then I started connecting a strong bond with my parents again. the people at my school made going to school every day a complete nightmare, I begged my parents everyday to send me to a private school

I hated softball towards the end of my senior year and my coach made me miserable. we went on a trip to Disney and played in tournaments there. while we were there my coach was so mean and was playing favorites, although he did that for the longest I can remember. he was benching me for games and playing underclassmen over me when I was better than them, he would make comments to girls on the team that have sicknesses and are on medication, he had favorites and you could so clearly tell. I hated him. during one of the games, halfway through the tournament, he didn't play me, I asked him why im not playing and we said we could talk about it after the game. I said no, took my stuff from the dugout and left. I walked right off the field and never went back. the amount of things I would do for that coach, the level of commitment I had for the team, everything was always going above and beyond for this coach because if you didn't he wouldn't play you. so I finally had enough of his mental abuse and I did something about it. we went to the school about the situation and its been known that nobody likes him. after we went to the school about it and started talking about it, more people started going to the school about it and opening up. eventually leading him to get fired.
