I feel like our school is trying to prioritize intellectual prowess and well-being but the buy-in from the students & community isn't there. I'm not sure we've done a good job of establishing a cohesive 'why' within any of our communities (students, staff, parents, etc)

I feel that all of the outcomes have a thru line of relevance. The academic and well being are both are skills and mindsets that are key for students to be prepared and wayfinding is about application of those skills and mindsets. If the work we are doing with students isn't relevant to them, then it is useless.

Collaboration, Perseverance, and Responsibility have been the "trunk of our tree" for 10 years. But I think now we are trying to focus more energy on "hands on, minds on" learning. Personally, engagement is my top priority, whether that means hands on building, or a challenging problem, or a contest, or linking with the community.

Our mission states that we want students to thrive in three areas- academic growth, character development, and health/wellness (i.e., students' physical & mental health, social-emotional wellbeing, and basic needs). We've had to focus a lot on the health/wellness side of things over the past 7 years giving the rising needs of students overall as well as the increase in the numbers of students with the most profound intellectual, functional, and/or behavioral needs. We recognize that health/wellness is a foundational aspect that allows for learning.

Another foundational aspect is engagement. This school has always used place-based, hands-on learning to engage students. We've increased our focus on and prioritization of this type of engagement through efforts to expand CTE to all students, PreK-12. This has led to lots of partnerships and collaboration with families, volunteers, businesses, alumni, and community organizations.

We need to take the foundational threads of health/wellness and engagement - combined with a growing commitment to hands-on/minds-on technical learning connected to career and community - and start focusing on and measuring impact in the academic and character realms.

Our school has spent several years prioritizing students well being and social emotional learning. As this work continues, our school community is prioritizing career and technical education. Through hands on experience, exposing students to relevant careers in our community, and focusing on the skills to be career ready after graduation. The learning experience can look vastly different for students in a lower elementary classroom to 8th graders, but with the same outcome as the goal.

Our school and district has had a focus on student's well-being for several years now. The teachers in our school strive to push students to the top of the intellectual prowess but sometimes fail. Blending those with experiences could provide students with individual growth.

At this moment, I feel that we are prioritizing the intellectual prowess of our students, but we also try to incorporate the well-being of our students.

Our community currently prioritizes test score growth regardless of any other aspect of school. For the most part the fun has been sucked right out of the classroom, in lieu of gaining a percentage on a check in or EOG test.

For a long time, our school has prioritized intellectual prowess in the form of grades and college-readiness, but recently we have seen an uptick in focusing on well-being. Our community has high ACEs scores and the establishment of a wellness center has had positive effects on student mental health. Going forward, I would love for us to focus on wayfinding.

Our school is moving towards a competency based learning model that will transform everything we do. This transformation will bring more student-ownership of learning, increase engagement and provide equity so that all students can thrive.

Our school is focusing on the Well Being of our students through the use of PBIS strategies / programs. We are also working to ensure that our lessons are relevant and engaging and that students know what they are learning through the use of Learning Intentions and what their expected learning outcomes are through the use of Success Criteria.
