Mama is by far my favorite character in the whole book. Personally Mama is a fantastic character in the story. She worries about herself and her family. Mama keeps it real with you and she likes to put others first and help them out. I feel a connection with Mama because she does a lot for others and i feel like she doesn't get enough credit for it.

She holds everyone together and tries to make the best out of the worst. Mama does as much as she can for everyone , like buying a house, cleaning up after others, or making sure everyone is okay. Mama tends to the kids, cooks, and cleans. I feel like this poem describes Mama pretty well.

"Rise Up" by Andra Day is a very moving song. Mama is a very moving character, who does anything and everything for her family. " You're broken down and tired" is a lyric from the song that i feel like mama can relate to the most because she goes through so much.

Theme- Feminism/Gender-Post 8

The theme is Gender/Feminism
Walter to Beneatha: “Who the hell told you you have to be a doctor? If you so crazy ‘bout messing ‘round with sick people—then go be a nurse like other women—or just get married and be quiet…” p. 38
This quote explains the theme because Walter is being sexist towards Beneatha. He said something stereotypical to her. Just because she is a female doesn't mean she has to be a "nurse" or " just get married and be quiet". Men always feel the need to talk down to us women and treat us differently, and Walter is one of those type of men.
