In this Padlet, click the + button to create a post. In your post, respond to two of the following questions:
1. Why is it advantageous for the plasma membrane to be fluid in nature?
2. What are some functions of proteins in the membrane? Name the job of a specific protein in the membrane.
3. What kind of macromolecule is cholesterol, and what is the role of cholesterol in the membrane?
4. What are 3 ways that a substance or molecule can get across the plasma membrane?
5. How do the chemical properties of phospholipids allow for a semipermeable membrane?

1) With the plasma membrane being fluid in nature, the cell has an easier time when it comes to substances and other products entering and leaving the cell. If the plasma membrane was solid, there would be less opportunity to enter and exit the cell.
3) Cholesterol is within the lipid group. As a lipid, it allows for the cell to remain fluid and cater to the entering and exiting of the cell.
