The drinking age in Illinois is 21 and anyone under that age is illegal. In Illinois underage DUI's cause 15-17% of the states drinking-damage driving fatalities, because underage drinkers cause a unequal number of alcohol-related auto disaster, the standards are stricter and the penalties are harsher for those under 21.
