Most call me Miss Studer. I teach 5th Grade Math and Science and am an advocate for student voice. Flipgrid makes that possible for me and my students. Using Flipgrid in my classroom has allowed me to view student personalities that are not necessarily brought out in instructional activities. I have seen so many students "come out of their shells" and show their true selves. When teaching high ability students, I notice that parents often worry about student social interaction. Make a Flipgrid video of yourself, mistakes and all. (I even put extra mistakes in there 😁) It truly helps your students feel more confident in their own recordings.

Create a grid for each class if you teach multiple classes. It keeps your videos organized. Make past years' grids hidden.

Do not expect lengthy videos from students when they start. Most students are nervous and will make it as brief as possible. Celebrate the small things!

Take the time to do videos just for fun! It helps students feel more confident when having to make videos for a grade over content.

Write sentence starters or a fill-in-the-blank script for students when creating content specific videos.
