Find glasses or jars of different sizes around the house. Fill them with buttons / dried beans / small lollies. Estimate how many items are in the containers and write down your estimate. Then count them to see how well you estimated. Find an easy way to keep track of your counting by making little groups of 2, or 5, or 10. What was the difference (that means you have to subtract!) between your estimate and the actual number of items?

Think of a question you would like to investigate - you could link this to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s easter egg challenge! Your question could be something like how many houses in my street are participating in the challenge, and how many are not? Another idea could be interviewing your whanau and finding out their favourite chocolate, movie or their birthday month.
