In this video it shows them performing this song live, it shows the audience in the crowd singing and dancing along. They use different camera angles and movements throughout which makes it more interesting. I like the music video personally because even though majority of the video is live footage of them performing the song and the different camera shots and movements make it interesting and less boring so it makes me want to see watching. It shows the energy they have when performing the song which is good because it makes you be able to feel what they are feeling when performing this song. They also show footage of themselves backstage messing around which gives it a slight break from just the live footage and lets you see how the band are off stage. It doesn't fit in with the song or lyrics but it doesn't need to as it gives off a good vibe from it . The comments on the music video are generally positive; there are comments such as 'Song was so good I came back 8 years later' the song is obviously popular as people are still listening to it years later.

The way the artist see's the video can be taken differently to how the audience perceive it. I think is is one of the most effective styles because most videos are interpretative because people always have different views and takes on them. I like this music video and think its successful because it is unique and creative and shows that its okay for men to wear dresses; which in this day and age is an issue that needs to be addressed. Some people may not understand the video or why she did it like that so it is therefore interpretative. The narrative used for the video was strong and easily followed. The camera angles and movement were strong; in one point where she swings her jacket round and the camera follows that action. i think this was effective and made it interesting.

So there is a story line to it. I chose this video because it pulls you in when watching it; it is intriguing. The main character is trying to escape from the police and people after him. The visuals worked really well alongside with the camera angles and movement as the angles changed continuously and we were able to see the facial expressions of the characters in the video and see their facial expressions.  although this video is 7 minutes long it is strong because it keeps you engaged throughout and the music goes well with the visuals that he put across. I chose this video by Gotye because it is such a strong and well produced video but there are such weird shots used that it makes the audience may feel uncomfortable but still intrigued. I felt uncomfortable and weird when i first watched this video but the more i watch it the more i understand what he did and why. It can be compared to a dream like effect. This is used in this video. they are in a world made out of sweets and the clouds are made from cotton candy. it makes you want to keep watching so you can understand the concept of it. It works just because of that reason. There's not many different camera angles and movements in it but when they used a long shot it is effective as it shows the entire scene and shows how unrealistic it is.

I chose this video because it does exactly that in such a unique way. He makes fun of Michael Jackson throughout the video and Lady Gaga. He uses lyrics to help back this up but also costumes in the video so people know exactly what he's getting at.
