The Romans built lots of technology including aqueducts. Aqueducts were used to transfer water to cities. These aqueducts were canal-like structures that brought water from lakes rivers and other water sources. Aqueducts are still used to day in California. Another piece of technology the Romans used were stone paved roads. These roads were made of concrete and crushed stones and pebbles. The roads connected cities of the Roman Empire. The Romans even built public bathrooms. Bathing in Rome was community activity. Only the wealthy citizens in Rome were able to afford baths in their homes.

The Romans built beautiful buildings with domes, arches, columns and open spaces. They built large buildings, like the Colosseum. The Colosseum was a stadium similar to sports stadiums today. It was used for gladiator fights. Their columns were similar to the Greeks' design. They also had domes at the top of their buildings. These domes were rounded arches made of concrete and put onto the top of buildings.

Onre connection Rome has to the present is technology. Today, we still use aqueducts and roads. For example, the California aqueduct is used today to bring water to Southern California. Roads are used in cities all over the world. Another connection from Rome to the present is we use their government. The United States of America is a repubic just like Rome. We also have the three branches of government. Executive, legislative, and judicial. A third connection Rome has to the present is architecure. Just like Rome we use domes for all of our capital buildings.
