In my culture girls do not really have power, the ones that have power are men because girls can be seen as weak. I have heard bits and pieces of the song before but never the whole thing until now. I picked this song because it is completely different from all the music I listen to, I have mentioned in my previous Padlets that I listen to Mexican music. The songs I listen to are all really men singing, every now and then there will be a female singer. 
"Run the world" is a huge hit, a lot of people have heard this song and have connected to it. This past weekend I went to a dance showing and one of the groups actually used parts of this song because they were showing off girl power. Back in the day girls had no power, and still to this day some girls in some parts of the world girls still do not have power. For example, in Iran girls are not allowed to walk in front of a guy they have to walk behind them because it shows that the guy has the power, unlike here in America and other country's girls walk in front of there guy for protection. 
Like I have said above, girls who have heard this song are more likely to feel like girls have power, which is true. Girls knowing that they have power, that they can do what the desire and put there heart into is the way that this song intersect with civic, public life and the affairs of regional, national and/or global communities because it has never been like this before. If we go back about
200 years and girls try to do what they do now they will probably be killed or punished. The picture below is showing Wonder Women, she is a super hero. The majority of the super heros are men, now there are quite a bit of girl heros or villains. The picture on the right is showing that girls can be tough, when I see that picture I see a girl in a mechanics outfit, girls can have whatever job they want, whether it be a Police officer, a Judge, a Lawyer, basically anything. Girls now do not have to stay at home and be a house wife.
